UK meaning=US meaning

Secondary school=High school

Year 7=Grade 6 (Age 12-13)

Year 9=Grade 8 (Age: 13-14)

Year 10=Grade 9 (Age: 14-15)

Year 11=Grade 10 (Age: 15-16)

GCSE=Not sure what the equivalent is in the USA but GCSE are just exams you take for all the subjects you do. You take some in year 10 and the majority in year 11. Most people take 7-9 GCSE's. English, Maths and Science are compulsory.

1st year in 6 form=Grade 11
(Year 12)

2nd year in 6 form=Grade 12
(Year 13)

5 GCSE's at C+=High school diploma

Form room=Home room

Form tutor=Home room teacher

Planner=A book that includes your time table and where you record homework etc
