This path is reckless,
This slope is treacherous,
And I, I, I like it."[Treacherous by Taylor Swift]

"You're finally down sweetheart," Julian groaned in his hands. Madeleine glared at him, "Can't you just wait a little." Then finally broke into a smile when Julian ran over to hug her and kissed her on the lips.
"Bye have fun! Send my regards to Carol!" Marilyn who was laid back lazily on the couch with Luke smoothing her hair, called out to them before they walked out of the house.
"Sure!" And they brought the door close.
*
Half an hour later, Julian pulled up at his front gate. Madeleine got down from the car and bent into it to retrieve the chocolate mousse cake she made especially for Carol. She heard from Julian about her obsession over chocolate.
When they stepped into the house, only to be welcomed by a warm ambience. The aroma sent Madeleine's stomach growling. Carol looked up and beamed at them. She hurried forward to hug Julian and then Madeleine before she managed to hand over the cake to Julian to avoid it from getting crushed.
"Maddy! Sweetheart it's amazing to see you!" She pulled her along to one of the chairs and insisted for her to sit before fussing over Julian for his help. She was overjoyed when she learnt that Madeleine went through all the trouble just to make her a perfect chocolate mousse cake. So again she hugged Madeleine and said, "Oh darling, you shouldn't have."
Despite being stopped from helping, Madeleine stood anyways and helped set up the table. That was what she did at home. She was used to it, serving others instead of sitting there like a dominator. Carol filled three glasses of homemade strawberry twist which looked mouth-watering.
Madeleine saw Julian serving the dishes one by one. Italian cuisine. Lasagne. Spaghetti. Pasta. White and red sauce. This meal was truly heaven-sent.
"Carol, thanks for treating me to this wonderful meal. It tasted so awesome!" Madeleine licked her lips satisfyingly. They sat around after cleaning the dishes and table.
They were laughing about random stuff when Madeleine thought of something. "Anyways, Carol, do you mind if I say something personal? I've been thinking whether or not to ask you and Julian out loud."
"You're pregnant?" Before Carol could say anything, Julian came up with the most stupid reaction. He gasped. Shocked. Madeleine hit him on the arm and protested, "Of course not! So highly you think of me. Im proud." She rolled her eyes.
"Stop messing around Julian," Carol gave him a disapproving look. "What is it my dear? Is something bothering you?"
"I just wasn't sure whether or not I should talk to both of you about this face to face," Madeleine bit her lower lip and looked down at her thighs.
"Go ahead, no worries darling," Carol assured Madeleine that it was okay to say it.
"Well, Carol, I was that girl who saved Julian from your burning house years ago," Madeleines eyes became a little watery. She knew it would bring back horrible memories to them. She knew she shouldn't say it now but she just had to. She had to choose telling them over this happy moment. Once they get over this, there'd be more happier days to come.
Carol's mouth fell open. Julian turned around and looked as her as well. "What? What did you say?" Carol's voice came out in a mere whisper.
"I was that girl. I," Madeleine sobbed, she couldn't continue. She suddenly felt very guilty. She thought maybe Carol didn't even want to bring up this subject.
Julian got up and hugged her close to his heart. Carol started sobbing too. She patted Madeleine on her hand to assure her it was okay to bring this up. They needed to learn to speak about it without flinching.
"So you were that little girl who saved Julian? Why didn't you say it earlier the first time we met? Oh poor girl," Carol held her hand.
Madeleine was out of control, until Julian soothed her on her back. She slowly breathed normally and said, "I only knew not too long ago when I saw the scar on his back." She slowly looked at Julian who was already teary. She felt ten times more miserable.
"Shh....it isn't your fault. I know what you're thinking. But we need to learn to say it without being too emotional. You're helping us, really," Julian rested his chin on Madeleine's head.
"Yes, Julian's right. And I have never been more thankful that you'd been there at that moment. If it wasn't for you, Julian wouldn't be sitting here as well," Carol was still holding her hand, rubbing the back of her hand smoothly. Pure affection for this girl.
Madeleine slowly nodded and dried her tears. She gave them a small smile which they did the same in return. This day couldn't be anymore perfect.
Carol took a deep breath, then said, "Okay, let's just make this the start of our wonderful story. Us meeting each other is fate. We should treasure it." She started to smile really widely and genuine. "So, what do we do now?"
Julian, who had dried his tiny teardrop, grinned and said, "Netflix and chill?"
"Typical! But alright," Carol laughed which made Madeleine laughed as well.
"Mom?" Julian called for Carol. "Can Maddy stay for the night?"
Before Carol could say anything, Madeleine gasped and hit him on the shoulder. "Julian! How could you? And I didn't even bring any change of clothes. That'll just be troublesome."
"Oh how would it be a trouble my dear? Then you'll be a bit of a worrier. I don't mind lending you my clothes and it's a wonderful idea for you to stay a night," then she looked at Julian and smirked. "But Julian, no dirty job."
"Mom!" Julian's face went red at that instance and turned to see Madeleine trying to hold back her laughter. He glared at her and tackled her to the ground. Madeleine shouted in shock and fought him hard. Carol laughed and shook her head slightly, then left the two to it before heading to her baby blue living room to turn on Netflix.

Julian held her hand in his as they laid on his king-sized bed. Then he put his arm around her and pulled her closer. Madeleine snuggled in his chest as she took in the smell of his lemon scented body wash.
He didn't know what he would do without this girl beside him. Ever since he met her, he felt that she had been his lucky star. Not to mention the real first time they met at the fire.
He tilted a bit and planted a kiss on Maddy's hair. "Thank you baby, you're my lucky star. Do you know that?" He felt Madeleine wrapped her arms tighter around him.
"That," she looked up at him and smiled gently. "Is the best thing I've ever heard."
And they snuggled to sleep.
