Sofie Gray :

"So Sofie, are you joining me and Riley to go to Becca Wood's party?" Cody asked as I took another sip of my watermelon slushie. I brushed my hair behind my ear as I shook my head, "I don't think so." I replied, with a fake smile. They both gave me a sympathetic look, and I shrugged it off.

"Come on, Sof. You can't just mope around over him forever." Riley said, twirling her straw around her drink, and I stayed quiet. Then I heard the bell ding on the door as I looked to see who had entered. Just my luck, it was Brent and his new girl, Vanessa. He glanced over at me and smiled and I just looked back down at the table.

"He's such a douche." Riley muttered as she gave me an apologetic look. I nodded as I put my books in my backpack, and sling it over my shoulder as I stand up, and grab my drink. "I better get home. I'll text you later, Ri." I said as I turned around and then I felt the warm tears drip down my cheek as I walked out of the diner and begin my walk home.

It seems like he's everywhere I go now. When I go to the grocery store? he's there. When I go to the pool? he's there. It's bad enough I have to see him and her at school being all coupley, and now it's like I can't go anywhere else without seeing them. I turned the corner as I felt my shoe get all wet, and I looked down to see I had stepped in a puddle, and I made a face. "Just great", I muttered. "Just freaking great." and I continued walking, hoping nothing else could go wrong.

I just want to get home, watch gossip girl, and cry as I stuff my face with chocolate icecream. That sounds perfect right about now, I think. Oh, with the 1975 blaring through my speakers, now that's exactly what I need. Then I heard a car zoom by and I felt water splash all over me, and I looked down to see my clothes were basically soaked. I couldn't help but start crying more as I walked down the road, shaking because of how cold I was.

Finally, I arrived home after a cold 50 minute walk, and I saw my neighbor, Ashton Stewart, sitting at the end of his drive way eating a Popsicle. He looked up at me, and his eyes widened, "What happened to you, neighbor?" He asked looking at my soaking clothes, and the makeup running down my face from crying. I shook my head as I walked inside and upstairs to my bedroom.

I had to get out of these freezing clothes, so I quickly took a bath, and then I slipped some sweatpants on and a white v-neck on as I went and laid on my bed. Then I grabbed my laptop from the nightstand and placed it in my lap as I slowly opened it. Just as I was about to click on the Netflix application, there was a thump at my window. I groaned as I stood and walked over to see Ashton throwing what looked like skittles? This kid, I swear. We have always had windows across from eachother, but I've never really spoke to him much. He motioned for me to open the window and I did as I crossed my arms and raised an eyebrow at him.

"What?" I asked, and he ran a hand through his messy dirty blonde hair. "I just wanted to check on you. You looked like a mess." He replied with concern in his voice, and I rolled my eyes. "Yeah, I'm great." I lied, flashing him a fake smile, and I then went to close my window.

"Is it that Bryan guy?" He asked, with his eyebrows now raised, and I scoffed at the name. Does he really not know his name? They used to be like bestfriends back in 7th grade for crying out loud! "You know that's not his name." I argued, pointing a finger at him, and he smirked. "Changing the subject, I see." he teased and I went to close my window again.

"You are so rude, Sofie! I was just about to offer you my expertise." He said with mock hurt, putting a hand over the right side of his chest. Moron. "Yeah, I'd love your 'expertise' and all, but you don't even know where your heart is." and he shook his finger at me in disapproval. "Now, now, now. Don't you want to get over that self absorbed douchebag?" He questioned with a mischievous look, and I raised my eyebrow. "How exactly would you be of any help?" I asked, tilting my head and he smirked.

"I, Ms. Sofie Gray, will be teaching you 100 ways to get over an ex. That is, if you're interested, so what do you say, neighbor?" He said giving me a waiting look and I stayed quiet as I thought about this. Should I really take advice from him? I mean he doesn't seem like the most helpful person, and he just put his hand over the right side of his chest, may I point out. But on the other hand, I'm willing to try anything to not cry every time I see Brent and Vanessa. So why not? I looked back up at him and he had his arms crossed, with a dorky grin on his face. "I say, what's the first way, Mr. Expertise?" I asked, and he stood up from his crouching position, and went to close his window.

"Meet me in the front yard at 11:00 tonight. See you then, neighbor." He stated as he closed his window and blinds. Ugh, he's such a strange kid. But if he thinks he can help me, I'll do anything he might say. Let's hope I don't regret this.
