Chapter 5 | At Least Buy Me Dinner First

"It's time for me to take it
I'm the boss right now
Not gonna fake it
Not when you go down
Cause this is my game
And you better come to play
I used to hold my freak back
Now I'm letting go
I make my own choice
Yeah I run this show
So leave the lights on
No, you can't make me behave."

Here's something you should know about me. I'm not a social person. So when you get invited to 4 different 'parties' in one night, you begin to get suspicious. Especially if one of the invitations is for Marcel Gerard's party.

Huffing, I slam open the doors and strut forward towards the main source of noise. My nose cringes in disgust as the smell of sweat, alcohol and blood fills my senses.

I'm not very fond of the way Marcel feeds his vampires, it is disgusting, honestly. Though as long as the people I cared about weren't involved, I let Marcel believe he had the power when it comes to this.
Once I arrive at the centre of the party, it becomes overwhelming.
I've had a shitty night as it is, this ain't helping.

The scent of alcohol and cheap aftershave hits me and soon enough I'm pinned to the wall by one of Marcel's night walkers.

I look at the animal in front of me with one eyebrow raised and a pissed off expression clouding my features.

"Hey beautiful," he slurred, before looking me directly in the eyes, "don't scream"
I resist the urge to roll my eyes and play the part of the innocent tourist lost at a party.

This is going to be fun!

As his fangs reach my neck a smirk etches it's path on my face, before screaming tears through the sound of music.
Everyone pauses what they are doing and the music stops, only to see me standing over the burning vampire.

"Fun fact!" I announce to the crowd.
"When you want to drink from a girl at least have the decency to buy her dinner first."

Marcel pushes his way through the crowd and stops a few feet away, a shocked expression on his 'oh so perfect' face.

"Well hiya, Marcel. Long time no see! How've you been?"

"Louisa, leave him alone!" He demands, though makes no move to come any closer.

Some king.

"You know, I would Marcel, but I've been having a bad day, and this night walker of yours trying to feed off me just made me even more irritable" I state in a patronising tone.

"But don't worry, he's not dead yet. The spell I cast is simply burning his skin. Though in five minutes or so it will probably take over his whole body.

Then he's dead."

Marcel carefully takes one step forward, signalling to his vampires to stand down.
"If that happens you would have broken my rules. And if Jane-Anne isn't a good enough example, we all know what happens when someone breaks my rules."

"You're no fun." I pout, flicking my wrist to stop the spell.

Through the whole conversation the vampire's screams had been ringing out in the party, but they slowly died down once the spell was put out. With his fellow vampires help he was up and out of the building within seconds. Probably to go feed on a human and curse my name.
Marcel sighed in relief, turning around to address the party members.
