One month later…

Macey’s POV

The previous month had allowed me to get back to normality, after a couple of days of staying with Emma and Ashley I and Aunt Chloe moved back home, I also started school again, and everything was soon back to its normal self. I hardly ever saw Noah or Charlotte, but when I did I was sure to turn the other way. My relationship with my aunt improved immensely and I had four amazing best friends on which I could easily rely on. My bruises were all but gone, my arm was better and the only memory of what had happened was the half foot long scar on my neck, not going away. Everyone else thought I had fell off a flights of stairs, landing on glass and getting the gruesome scar, I knew better. Although my physical scars were fading, well all but one, my mental and emotional ones were stronger than ever. I woke up every night, at various parts of the night, screaming and panting for breath, my nightmares getting the better of me. It was always the same dream, of me being chased by Cole down a long winded cave, going deeper and deeper, it getting darker and darker. Until he caught up with me, and he pounced, his knife contacting through my stomach and at the blood curdling scream that escaped my parched lips I wake.

I had also been able to find a quiet spot at the sea where I could swim, it felt so free and comforting to be swimming along with the fish and the dolphin, and I had missed the view and the quiet company of deep sea friends.

It was 8:30 am and I was sitting in class waiting for the register to be done, my mind wondered off to stranger tides and I was miles away when I heard the squeak of someone landing in the seat next to mines. I swiftly turned to see Zoë, out of breath and red in the face turning and she spoke. ‘Hey Macey.’

‘Zoë, erm what happened.’

She looked flustered, bless her. ‘Urgh don’t ask. Let’s just say I missed the bus and Shay had an appointment. So I had to run here, as well as already being late there was a massive hold up on the roads.’ She took another deep breath and smacked her head down to her table.

I smiled and let her rest, when I next looked up I saw Leo. My heard thudded, and again I felt something unexplainably weird. My feelings for the guy were getting stronger by the minute by it was so strange, I mean Noah was my mate, yet what I felt for hi was forced, unnatural, s if I had to have those feelings because I was his mate. But with Leo, it was different; it was more natural and loving, amazing and bizarre at the same time.

The passed by quickly, I was actually enjoying school now, especially since we had another teacher for Myths and Legends, a Shifter. So the lessons were becoming interesting, and 99% of the times I didn’t even see Noah, good thing I was sitting at the front whilst he was at the back; as far away from me as possible in the small classroom.

School ended and I told the girls I would meet them at the beach since they had to go home to drop some things off and change. Since I lived closer, i got to the beach quicker; I lay down on a deck chair, a safe distant from the sea and chose a book. I had two, ‘Angels and Demons’ by Dan Brown, mystery and adventure book, and ‘Lament’ by Maggie Stiefvater; a romance novel. I chose the former, not up to reading a loved up book.

Leo’s POV

I was at the beach, playing beach ball with the guys when I saw Macey; she looked amazing bathing in the glow of the sun. My feelings for her had deepened so bad in the past month that I had decided this morning I would stop fighting them. I wanted more than being her friend, but I didn’t know what she wanted. But whatever happened know, i knew I was letting go of the past and moving on, embracing my feelings for Macey.

Macey’s POV

The sun was beating down, bathing my skin in a deep glow and I put my book down, reaching for a glass of ice cold coke when I saw a familiar shape amongst the sun bathing faces. It was not one which I had clearly seen, and i didn’t remember where I knew the girl, but I knew her from somewhere, I just couldn’t remember where. Suddenly, a long shadow blocked my view of her and blocked the sun from reaching me, I looked up to see Leo, a glint in his eyes; shirtless holding a yellow and orange beach ball. My mouth went dry looking at the tanned abs as I felt superficial, but damn he looked hot. ‘Like what you see?’ I quickly glanced up to his amused filled eyes and stood up; reaching his shoulders, and trust me when I say I was tall. ‘No, of course not.’ He smirked and I stuck my tongue out at him feeling for the first time relaxed and playful.

‘So, the guys and I were playing a game, and Emma and the girls are here too, so I was wondering if you wanna join us.’

I laughed at this and when I saw the confused look on his face I pointed at the girl not far from us, she was playing Frisbee with her friends and she was catching it every time, gracefully and athletically. ‘See her,’ I said to him, ‘well I'm nothing like her. Seriously I can’t catch to save my life and if I play I'm telling you now I will hurt someone.’ At this he burst out laughing and pulled me closer to him, ‘I'm sure I’ll be safe from you, after all I am a werewolf.’ He growled then and my breath caught in my throat, he smiled, knowing the effect he had on me and pulled me towards the net where everyone was waiting.

I was with Ashley, Jace, Danny and Leo versing Emma, Nate, Shay and Zoë, and just as I said so, I didn’t hit the ball once and when I did I fell on my backside. Leo helped me up, gave me a wink and hit the ball to the other side again. Just then, as the ball was coming right towards me I remembered where I had seen the girl before, she was identical to the girl in the picture, in the picture in Leo’s room, with him having an arm around the very same girl. But that was Katie. She had died. So how…before I could think of anything else I looked up, too late to see the ball coming right at me, it impacted with my face and I felt myself flying backwards…
