The lesson was suffocating, I could hardly breathe as the seconds ticked by and his voice kept invading the painful memories I had locked deep in my mind. His teaching was no better than his acting as he constantly shouted at the class, swore and his inner hungry nature came out. It was worse when he was talking about the topic of the lesson as he so effortlessly put it, Mermaids. I had to listen as he went through the gory in depth detail of the dissection process and the anatomy of a mermaid. Half way through the lesson i was Emma giving me a concerned look, I could feel myself paling and shaking, she mouthed, 'Are you OK.' I just nodded, waiting for when the bell was to happen, antagonizing over the minutes which felt like years on end.

So much for blending in, keeping my cover and being invisible, i knew now that i couldn't run from my past, and that I had to tell Emma and the rest of her pack the dangers of Cole being here. He was a Hunter and a strong one at that, he could destroy her whole pack if he got wind that there was one here and he could bring some of his Hunter friends with him too.

Finally, the bell rang, I ran out of there so quick, Emma and Shay had to catch up with me, “Hey Macey what’s wrong, are you ok?”

“Listen Emma, Shay, I need to talk to you, in private as soon as possible.”

“But Macey is everything...”

“Look seriously not now, after school ok?”

“Sure Macey, we’ll go to my house and talk there,” Emma said, and she smiled with a concerned expression. I ran to the bathroom, shutting the cubicle door behind me as I vomited and felt my head spin.

I managed to get through the day.  At the end of the school day, I got into Emma’s car and soon we were in front of a huge house. The next thing I knew Zoe, Shay, Emma, Ashley and I where all sitting in the twins’ room in a circle on the floor. It reminded of when I was about 10 and we used to have circle time in school, I giggled at the memory but the seriousness of the situation smacked in to me. There was complete silence.

Shay broke the silence, “So, Macey you wanna tell us why you look like your about to faint and like you've seen a ghost?'

I didn't know where to begin so I went with the first thing that came into my mind, 'I know you are werewolves.' Oops, not the best open sentence ever,

Suddenly all the girls started to panic  but before they could do more than gasp i spoke in a rushed tone. 'Its ok, I know your all weres cos I saw the Mark on Ashley's shoulder, but the thing is I'm a witch and i have an affinity of water and three months ago my mom was murdered by a Hunter and i escaped but it turns out I haven't cos he's here and i had to tell you because i didn't want anything bad happening to your pack and the thing is the Hunter is our Myths and Legends teacher Mr Garret.' I finished, I had no idea how much of that they heard because i had been going at 120 miles per hour but i knew they had the gist of it as they were all on their feet, panic ridden and gasping.

“We have to tell dad, he’s our pack leader” Ashley’s voice shook.

“Um Ashley, you might want to hide you mark, a lot of people know what it symbolises and I bet anything Cole does too.”

“I know I’ve been really irresponsible, listen do you want to explain to my dad or if you want we can” she smiled.

“That’ll be great thank you.”

Shay offered to drive me home.

Dinner with Chloe was going uneventful so far, “So, Macey I went to your school today to pick up some papers and I met your new teacher, Mr Garret. He seemed very nice.”

Oh no, this couldn’t be happening, I started choking right there, “Macey are you ok?”

‘Yeah, aham I'm fine, listen you have to trust me, Mr Garret isn’t who he seems. You have to stay away from him.”

Her face had a confused look, but her eyes told me she wouldn’t listen to me, i recognised the look of determination and attitude that had been in my mother, meaning once she had made her mind up, she would stick to it. “Oh Macey come on, how bad could he be, let me guess he gave you too much homework?' She laughed at her own cleverness, 'But aunt Chloe you don't understand...'

“No Macey its ok, he’s very nice, actually he’s asked me out for this Friday, I'm looking forward to it. Now I'm tired, do you mind cleaning up honey?”

“Sure” I muttered, giving up.

This was turning out worse and worse, I was not going to let Cole ruin my life here and I'm not going to let him hurt Chloe, she's the only family I had and i wasn't going to let him take her away from me...
