Gift from the moon. /Remus Lupin/

Chapter 8.

Have you ever heard the wolf cry.

Amy and Remus were talking when suddenly Amaris felt something at her leg. She squealed and pulled her legs up. She looked at the ground and saw her cat Kira looking at her with big eyes. Moving her body that quickly wasn't a good idea because she wasn't completely healed yet. 'ouch!' 'What is it?!' Remus asked worried. 'I hurt my ribs.' 'Are you okay, maybe we should go to madame Pomfrey.'Amaris smiled, 'No, it's fine, a little bit pain wont kill me.' Remus smiled, he thought about the full moon. He really wanted to tell what he is, but he didn't dare. What if she'd be scared of him, or think he's  bad. He couldn't risk losing her.

'Are you okay?' Remus was pulled out of his thoughts 'W-What?' he said absently. 'Are you okay? You look so pale today.' Amy said while she put a lock of brown hair out of his face.  'Yes, I'm just a bit hungry, let's go and eat.' Amaris nodded. 

 They entered the great hall, it was almost empty. Amy and Remus sat down at the Griffindor table. Remus' hands were shaking. Amaris looked worried. 'Are you really sure you're okay?' Remus nodded, he was a bit quiet today she thought. After lunch they walked trough the corridors to the common room. A slytherin boy was looking at Amaris and smiled at her. Before she knew it Remus pressed him against a wall. 'Don't look at her like that!' he yelled. 'Remus!' he turned around and realised what he was doing when he saw a shocked Amaris looking at him. He let the boy go, he ran away as quick as he could. 'What is that with you today?' she whispered when she hugged him. It was the full moon, he always acted strange then but he was never this overprotective before. 

They sat down on the sofa in the common room they didn't talk as much as usual. An hour later Amarisfell asleep and Remus was reading a book. The other boys and Lily entered. 'oh look how sweet.' Lily whispered so only Sirius could hear. He felt hurt, she would never trust him as much as Remus he thought. James kneeled in front of his sister, 'You should go to madame Pomfrey for your potion remus.' He said as he looked at his friends pale face. Remus nodded and stood up very careful so he wouldn't wake Amaris. James at down next to his sister and Sirius in the armchair at the other side. 'I'm going to the dorm.' Lily said. James smiled and nodded. 

Sirius was looking at Amy she looked so peaceful, she even had a little smile on her face which made him smile to. 'Will you stop looking at her Sirius.' James said while he waved in front of Sirius' face. 'I'm sorry.' Amaris woke up, 'O hey guys you're back soon.' she said. 'Yes it was really cold it even started snowing. 'O how nice.' she said. James smiled. 'So did you ask anyone to come next week?' he asked 'Yes i did actually. Remus will come over.' 'That's nice, you two seem to get along very well.' 'Yes we do.' Amy said while she smiled. Sirius didn't like that at all. She likes him, why? he asked himself.  What does he have that i don't? 'Where is Remus actually?' Amaris asked when she noticed her friend wasn't sitting next to her anymore. 'He had to do something we'll see him in the great hall.' James answered. 'o okay.' she said. 

It was dinnertime. Amaris, James and Sirius entered the great hall. They saw Remus was already sitting there. Amy sat down next to him, James sat down at the other side with Sirius. 'Ah miss Potter.' Amy looked behind her and saw professor Slughorn looking at her. 'Hello professor.' 'I was hoping to see you, i'm giving a Christmas party, i was hoping you could come. You to Mister Lupin.' 'Yes i'd love to.' Amy said, 'Yes me to thank you professor.' 'ah perfect, you can bring a date if you want. I'll see you two Friday evening then.'

'So a date. who are you going to ask?' James said. 'Date?' 'For his Christmas party.' 'He said i could bring someone if i want i don't need anyone else Remus and Lily will be there. They're great company.' ' I was thinking exactly the same.' Remus said when he smiled at her.

'I'm going to the common room, i'll see you guys later.' she said when she walked away. 

Amy was reading a book in the common room when James and Remus walked in followed by a stunned James. 'What happened?' Amaris asked. 'She asked me.' he said dreamy. 'Who asked you what?' 'Lily, she asked me to go to the party with her.' He said. 'What? Are you serious?' 'No i am but he is telling the truth.' Sirius said. Amaris smiled. ' Well you're very lucky James, i'm happy for you.' she said. 'I'm going for a walk in the snow.' Amy said when she saw her brother dreaming. 'I'll come with you.' Remus said. 'Be back on time Remus.' Sirius said. Remus nodded and they went outside.

 When they came outside it was still snowing, everything was covered in a beautiful layer of white snow. Amaris took some snow and made a ball. She threw it right on Remus' shoulder. 'O you, i'll get you' He said when he picked up snow. Amy ran away laughing. They were having a snowfight and Remus lost track of time. Amaris ran to the womping willow, Remus stood in front of her. He wanted to say something but the moon appeared between the branches of the tree. His eyes widened, his feet were growing he's face showed how much pain he was having. 'Remus.' Amaris whispered. She could see a tear rolling over his cheek. 'AMY go away!' James was running to them. But she couldn't move, she didn't want to leave him here in pain. The transformation was complete, she was standing eye to eye with a werewolf. 'Go! ' James yelled. Amaris reached out her hand towards her friend she could no longer recognize. Her hand touched the werewolve's cheek. It all made sense now, why he looked so sick sometimes, James' wounds, his behaviour. She feared she knew for a while but didn't want to believe it. The werewolf held his head against her hand. 'It really is you.' she whispered to make herself believe it. 'Come on Amy go inside it's not safe.' Sirius said. 'He wont hurt me.' she said. Sirius brutally pulled her away,  he held her hand. This made Remus lose it. He didn't know what it was but suddenly he attacked Sirius. Amy watched it with her mouth open. A big black dog showed up and attacked the werewolf. James picked up his sister and carried her inside against her will. 'Let me go James, we can't just leave them there.' 'We have to little one.' 

They sat down in the common room. 'I guess i understand your nicknames now.' she said. James smiled. 'I'm sorry.' he said. 'For what?' 'For not showing up earlier. He could have hurt you.' Amarislooked at her brother in disbelieve. 'Remus would never hurt me.' She stood up 'Amy listen -' 'No. He is my best friend! ì feel safe with him!  i'm going to bed You better go and check on your friends.'

Amaris couldn't sleep that night. She opened the window and heard a wolf howl. Poor Remus she thought. A tear rolled over her cheek, he looked so painful. She hated it.

When she entered the great hall the next morning she couldn't see Remus.  She walked to her brother and Sirius who had a few scars on his face. 'Where is he?' she asked. 'At the hospital wing. 'James said quietly.' Amaris glared at Sirius, 'What did you do to him?!' she said and left. 

She was standing before the big doors of the hospital wing. Amaris breathed slowly in and out and entered. There was only one person lying in the infirmary. She walked to his bed; he had even more scars on his face as usual, his arm was in a bandage and it looked like he had stitches on his chest. She held his cheek with her hand. 'Remus.' she whispered. Remus opened his eyes he felt like he had to. When he woke up he saw Amy standing next to him. Her soft hand on his cheek made him feel warm. 'Hey' she whispered. He didn't dare to look at her. Amy sat down on his bed 'I know what you must think of me. You don't have to stay with me, i'm used to it by now.' 'Remus you are my best friend. I would never leave you.' she said. 'But what if i'd hurt you.' a tear rolled over his cheek 'I couldn't survive that Amy.' She took his hand 'You didn't do anything to me yesterday, i trust you. You wouldn't hurt me. I thought you trusted me too. Why haven't you told me.' ' I was scared you'd be afraid of me.    That i would lose you as a friend.' Amaris had tears in her eyes and smiled. 'You're stuck with me until the end Remus.'
