I agree with this 510%. All the hard times, the good moments, the sad memories– can make us feel so many emotions and feelings. She is completely right; what doesn't kill us gives us something to write about.
We can always take everything we have been through and write about it. Other people can always relate, and when they read it, they think "wow, I know exactly what he/she means".
Me as an author uses real life experiences often. Those experiences or memories didn't kill me. They only made me stronger, and helped me become better writer.
So the next time your stuck with writer's block, think about something you once went through and felt, and apply that to your writing. The best writing comes from the things you have already experienced.
