While in Australia, Rin was trying to get Haru to realise his dream. Everyone at home was concerned about how reserved Haru had become, more than normal anyway.... After sightseeing and bonding more, the two decided to head to the hotel Rin had made reservations at. Once there however, they realised that their girly names had caused the people to think they were a couple. Rin tried complaining, but the Australian receptionist made it clear that there were no other rooms available. Reluctantly, they went to number 25 in the small hotel, entered the small room and set their bags down. Haru began to strip into his pajamas while Rin was away, which consisted of a blue top and grey jogging bottoms. He placed his bag at the bottom of the bed and climbed under the covers of the double bed. Rin soon came back complaining in a mixture of English and Japanese, a hand running through his hair while he did so. Letting out a sigh, Rin glanced over at Haru already in bed and felt his heart flutter in his chest at the sight. What the other didn't know was that both of them had affections for the other. While their friends had picked up on their feelings by seeing how they responded to one another, and by watching the way they would look at each other, Haru and Rin still hadn't realised that the other male returned their feelings. That would change tonight.

After Rin had changed into his own pajamas, which consisted of a black tank top and green jogging bottoms, he climbed into the bed beside Haru. Both of them were facing away from one another, too embarrassed by the fact that they were sharing a bed meant for couples.
"I can't believe this......" Rin muttered.
"It won't matter once you're asleep." Haru replied, not bothering to voice his objections or embarrassment at the situation. "Just go to sleep." Rin sighed in response and reached up, turning off the light so it was easier to sleep in the darker lighting.
"Guess that's true." Rin reluctantly agreed. They laid there in silence for a while, both boys with their eyes closed, trying to go to sleep but finding that they couldn't due to the presence of the other boy. The sounds of motorbikes and cars driving by during the night could be heard as they lay there quietly, waiting for sleep to come, but it never did. "Hey, Haru?" Rin's quiet voice called to the boy behind him. He wanted to admit to the ravenette what he meant to him, and while they were alone in Australia was the only chance he had. "I told you I've always admired you, right? You might not remember it, but I still remember, the day I first met you. To be honest, it had never occurred to me that I could lose to someone. But any frustration vanished when I thought, 'there's someone more amazing than me'. 'I want to be able to swim like him.' That's why it's hard for me when you're not always there ahead of me, showing me what path I should take. Without you, I have nothing to aim for, you know?" Rin smiled at the memory and the realisation of how much he had always relied on Haru being near him, being there to show him the way.
"I remember it too." Haru admitted, finally speaking up as his eyes glistened in a way that showed he too, was reliving the memories of their time together as children. "That tournament...."
"Huh?" Rin turned to lie on his side, letting out a breathy laugh as he rested a hand under his head, smiling up at the ceiling.
"Do you remember the freestyle race we swam during that tournament this spring? When we tied and set a new tournament record together?"
"Yeah." Haru replied briefly, glancing back at Rin for a moment before facing away again.
"I was testing you then. I wanted to see if that was really the farthest you could go. And when I sensed you coming up from behind me, I knew for sure. That you were definitely going to enter the same world as me. Hey, Haru, during that race, didn't you feel something too?" Haru's eyes widened slightly as he remembered that race, the way his body had felt as he swam, catching up to Rin. The feeling of the surge of power that coursed through him and the happiness that spread through him as he swam with his friend and the boy he cared for again. Haru stayed quiet however, his hand tightening into a fist as he fought against the feelings that stirred within him as he remembered the memories Rin spoke of and became increasingly aware of how close Rin was inching towards him.
