I lounged on the couch in my sunroom as I chated with maya over the phone. She was such a sweet heart and I loved her, despite the fact that my son disliked her beyond words.

"when are you bringing my little pumpkin to see me?" I asked, I heard her laugh at the other end.

"why do you always call her that." She asked. I smiled to myself.

"thats what I used to call jacob when he was little." I said full of nostalga.

"aw." She said on the other end.

"well, I was thinking about bringing her tommarow around lunch time." She said.

"thats great, now that jacob is gone you can stay a while without him getting his panties in a bunch." I said. It seemed like whenever I had maya over, he always found out. And was upset. And I didnt want to choose sides, I loved them both.

"you know you'll always be my daughter in law right." I said meaning every word of it. I had known maya ever since jacob had first brought her home, back when they seventeen and sixteen. She was so shy, They were just friends then. But soon jacob fell in love and next thing I know he's telling me he proposed.

" I know. Even if it isnt by law." She said. I looked up at the clock on the table. It was 12:50pm, and I had guests coming over soon.

"sweety, I gotta get going." I said.

"okay, see you tommarow bye."

"bye." I said hanging up....

<JACOB>

I said goodbye to my friends as we all went our seperate ways. School was out and we all had our selective things to do. I headed over to the football field, where I knew my friend would be. I climbed the bleachers all the way to the top and there she was, cris-cross-apple sauce, with a textbook in her lap. I smiled when I saw her. I walked over and took a seat next to her.
"haven't seen you all day. Where you been hiding." I asked taking my back pack off. We didnt have any of the same classes, but I always stopped to talk to her in the hallways, and sat next to her at lunch everyday. But today I didnt see her at all.
"i had testing all day. We had to eat lunch in the lab room." She said not looking up from her work.
"hey, guesd what." I said with excitement.
"what?" She said looking up at me, her coal black eyes shimmering.
"you know that modeling agency I was telling you about?" She shook her head up and down.
" well, they called me yesterday, and said they wanted to meet up with me and my mom to discuss a deal." I finishef.
"see, I told you they would call back. I had faith in you the whole time. Congratulations jacob." She said geinuinly. I smiled.
"thanks." I said. It grew quiet between us as I watched her work. She was writing a paper for literature, it said;
' he was twinkling, shining brighter than the stars could ever dream of. Light envied him, and the earth needed him. Words couldnt describe the feeling he ga-' she playfully pushed my head away from her paper.
"stop reading, this isnt for your eyes." She said smiling from ear to ear.
"why not. You must have something to hide maya." I said trying to grab it. But she was quick to snatch it up before I got my hands on it.
"come on maya, please let me see. What is it about?" I asked. She looked down.
"you." She said quietly. My eyes widened in astonishment. I didnt know what to say.
"can I see it." I asked. I could tell she was reluctant to give it to me, but she did. I took the paper from her hands and begain reading from where I left off.
'words could not describe the feeling he gave me. It was electricity. At the highest voltage. The sting was so good. Enclosed in my secret love affair, where love was one sided. He didnt know, I didnt know, that I would feel this way. It was just another smile, another hug, another word, another day.' I slowly looked up from the paper and stared off into the horizon. She spoke before I got a chance to.
"jacob, I-i like you...alot. I look forward to seeing you every day. When you smile at me, talk to me, even sit by me. That's the highlight of my day." She paused with a sigh.
"i dont even know why im telling you this, you this, you dont even feel the same way." She said palming herself. I was taken aback for a second, but I had some thing to say.
" I-"
"i know, I know. You only see me as a friend." She said cutting me off.
"no, thats not even what I was about to say." I said taking her hand from her face. She looked at me.
"i was going to say that...i'd be lying if I didnt feel the same." I revealed.
Her expression turned from sad to suprised.
"i had been hiding my feeling from you because, because I was scared". I said truthfully. I wasnt scared to express my feelings to anybody, but when it came to maya I just locked up.
"maya I-I think I love you." I blurted at with my eyes closed. It was quiet for a moment, then I felt her wrap her arms around my neck hugging me tight. Her face buried deep in my neck. I held her to.
"i love you to." She said joyfully. I was so happy to hear her say those words.
Now the question was: where to now?...........
