Ryan's pov:

The sun shone through the windows of the Hades cabin and I stretched my arms and yawned loudly. I looked around and saw Nico sleeping beside me. I watched as his chest rose and fell and I smiled to myself.

He was so afraid of not being accepted and of being alone and I could understand completely where he was coming from. I imagined we would be good friends in the future. I gently shook his shoulders and he opened his eyes slowly escaping from sleeps clutches.

"Did we... Did you and I? oh god Chiron's going to kill us." He asked rapidly as he pulled off the covers and slipped into his sneakers.

"No we didn't." I answered back as I ran my fingers through my sandy hair.

"That's probably a good thing." Nico responded.
"Oh Chiron was looking for the eight of us this morning. It was something about a meeting at the big house. We should probably head there now."

I nodded my head and we slipped out of his cabin, laughing and chatting the entire time. It seemed that Nico had forgotten about Will and that was a good thing. He deserved to be happy because of all the shit he'd been through.

We neared the big house which had been unceremoniously dubbed 'The Big House' when trouble struck. A tall kid with dark hair stepped into our path and we both froze.

That kid was James Carstairs, the kid that cheated on me with someone else. Judging by Nico's expression he was the one that Will had flirted with. The funny thing is that I dated him because his name sounded like a character from the Infernal Devices series, one of my favourite book series.  (too bad he couldn't play the violin or kill monsters attractively)

"Hey Ryan, long time no see." He sneered as he quickly glanced at Nico.

"What do you want James?" I asked angrily as Nico and I walked past him.

"I just wanted to see who Nico moved onto and I just wanted to see your face again. I miss us Ryan."

I laughed indignantly at him. "I'm pretty sure you don't want to get back with me. Judging by your smug expression, you're here to gloat to Nico about Will."

"Looks like someone hit the nail on the head." James turned to face Nico.

"Whatever it is James, I don't want to hear it. Chiron called us to a meeting and we really don't want to be late so please leave us alone." Nico's fists were clenched and I could see that he was trying to restrain his fury. He was doing a pretty good job. I personally would have already decked James.

"I just wanted to let you know that his lips were so right on mine last night. The fiery passion he had felt so right when he moved his body against mine. When we shared ourselves it was my name he moaned out. He completely forgot about you Nico and he's so much happi-"

James was interrupted by Nico's fist crashing into his nose. James howled in pain and swore viciously at Nico and myself.

"I'll get even with you Nico. Just you wait!" He yelled as he stalked away.

"Hey are you ok Nico?" I asked as we continued to walk to the porch of the house.

"Not really Ryan but thanks for sticking there with me. I had no idea you dated him."

We continued to talk as we walked into the meeting.

"I'm glad that you two could make the meeting." Said Chiron sarcastically as he looked at the clock. We smiled in embarrassment as we were twenty minutes.

"Hey what happened to your hand Nico?" Asked Percy as he noticed the dried blood on Nico's fist.

"Uh it was nothing. Anyhow, why'd you call us here Chiron?"

Nico quickly changed the subject and I thanked him. I'm pretty sure nobody would be thrilled when they heard what had happened to James.

"Well, I might have found something on the creature in your dream Ryan."

"What do you think it was?" I asked anxiously. I want to know what the thing that killed me is.

"I believe that we are dealing with is a Targerynne."
