Alfred & Arthur

"Man that meeting was a drag, even Italy wasn't paying attention to Germany." The American complained, stretching his arms behind his head. "I admit it was a tad boring, but there were a few points that struck my interest" Arthur was folding up the last of his notes as they walked down the hallway to the garage. For some odd reason, Alfred had insisted that they personally drive here, since the meeting was being held in his country and all.
Well truthfully Arthur wanted to drive, but the road differences made the over protective American worried, so Alfred was the one to drive.
Arthur smirked, even though his love could get annoyingly protective, it was nice that he looked out for him. "I'm driving!" Shouted Alfred drawing Arthur out of his day dream.
"Alfred- Wait!" It was too late, Alfred was already sprinting the remaining distance down the hall, out of earshot of the Brit. "What does that bloody git think he's doing, acting like a child even though he's supposed to be one of the world's strongest countries?" England mumbled, shaking his head in dissatisfaction.

Feeling around in his pockets he came upon a familiar set of objects.
He continued walking down the hallway alone, twirling the car keys in his hand. Smiling to himself for the younger nations foolish eagerness.
As he finally rounded the corner to see the slightly embarrassed American leaning against the black car they had used to get here. "Forget something?" Arthur asked, toying further with the already embarrassed American. 'I-I just got really anxious, I just really want to know what the test says..." He said sheepishly, rubbing the back of his head. The Brit blushed and looked at the ground.

A few weeks ago the older nation began to have random drowsiness spells and the occasional morning sickness, both of them decided to test their theory and go get a doctor's visit.

The car ride to the doctors office was filled with nervous questions. Truthfully, the couple had been trying to avoid having children for the past year, not that they didn't want any, just that they weren't ready just yet. As Alfred rounded the corner into the hospitals parking space Arthur grew paler.

What if the test was positive? Could they really handle all of this responsibility? Worry was etched into his mind, worsening scenarios began to play out in front of him.

"Hey!" A gently squeeze of his hand brought him back to reality.

"Your looking kinda pale, you okay?" England looked at America, his face still a bit pale from his recent imaginings.

Arthur felt a hand cup his cheek.
"Hey, we'll be fine, don't worry. We can do this together." Alfred said, using his thumb to rub the droplet from the corner of Arthur's eye. "And that's only if the test IS positive" He chuckled, the brit pulled his larger hand away to rest them on green trousers. "I guess your right, I just got really worried for a minute." The lighter blond said, rubbing the remaining droplets from his eyes.

America waited patiently in the chair for the result of the tests, even though on the inside he was also tossing about the same questions England had earlier worried over.
The said Englishman was currently pacing back and fourth in the small hospital room they were waiting in.

To pass the time Alfred had taken up the game of counting how many steps Arthur could take before another 'When will that bloody nurse come back' passed the Brits lips. Luckily this time the count was only twenty-seven steps before there was a knock at the door.
"Come in!" Arthur spoke a bit louder than usual, momentarily pausing his pacing.

The white door opened to reveal a scrawny graying woman, whom looked like she could willingly offer someone a poisoned Apple.
"This the room of Mr. Kirkland?" Her voice was that of a 'Jersey' with a little bit of a southern drawl thrown in.

"Yes, yes, now do you have the results of my test?" Arthur asked a bit to eagerly, making the woman take a step back from the anxious man.

"Yes'r."

At her response Alfred tensed up, taking the chance to place a reassuring hand on Arthur's shoulder. The man momentarily paused his nervous jitters, and focused solely on the turning of white papers.

The couple watched eagerly as the nurse came to a halt on one of the pages, her eyes scanning for the result. Looking up a rickety smile lay across her face.

"Congratulations, you two! From what we can tell the due date will be April 21st, now if you don't mind I have to leave. "

In the complete awe of the two parents-to-be her exit had gone unnoticed, and with the soft clicking of the door they were alone.
A grin slowly came across Alfred's face. "Artie, did ya hear that! We're going to be parents!" He almost shouted, excitement flowing tenfold through his veins.
Arthur, however was still in shock, and without realizing it, had his hand resting on his still flat stomach.
Even though this was a possibility, it never seemed possible in the Brits world. A mix of emotions was flowing through his mind, fear, worry, nervousness, but all were canceled out by the small smile that began to creep along his face as well.

"We're going to be parents!" His voice was no more than a whisper, but joy was laced throughout those five words.
