You just stood there,
Looking amazing, yet so alone.
It didn't look fair
To see you trapped in your own zone.
I started towards you,
My heart racing and skipping.
It kept feeling like déjà vu,
My shoes felt like they were slipping.
When you looked at me,
I stopped right in my tracks.
My first thought was to flee,
But my feet were like heavy sacks.
You offered me your hand
And I accepted it hesitantly.
In the background was a jazz band.
It was like we were attracted magnetically.
We danced and danced like the song never ended.
It felt like we were the only two left.
This feeling was splendid
And all the tension had left my chest.
I rested my head on your shoulder
And you sighed happily.
You were like my protector,
But the song started to end rapidly.
We pulled apart
And starred at each other for a while.
It was like I had fixed his bleeding heart.
I wanted to say something, but all I could manage was a smile.
I just couldn't take away my eyes from him,
I felt like I was dreaming.
The lights stared to dim.
It felt like I wasn't breathing.
Soon everything was coming to an end,
But I didn't want it to.
It felt like we were now more than friends.
At least I was able to break through.
I finally found what has made my life complete.
Nothing else was ever this sweet.

So I wrote this a few years ago for a school project... my teacher loved it so I kept it... any thoughts?
