Bye

I see a blanket hanging high.
It covers the expanse.
A dark presence of comfort.
I'm lost in the space.
I'm soaring
Floating
Flying.
I'm alone in an ever-continuing black.
The stars begin to disappear.
I turn around and see 2 left.
Only 2.
One fades.
There it is.
The last of them.
The final reminder of a life I had.
It won't leave me.
It hangs there.
Staring at me.
I begin to doubt myself.
My journey
My quest
I doubt the reason for distance.
I speak to it.
I ask it...
Something.
I don't know.
What would you ask it?
I don't remember.
It's a question I can't grab.
The memory escapes me.
It refuses to answer.
It only waits.
It sits.
Staring.
I cry.
I'm naked
And cold.
God, I cry.
God.
Don't, I say.
I say it beyond the infinite sea,
Standing at the door,
The door to the pit.
Don't, I repeat to the flickering speck.
Don't go.
Don't leave me.
DON'T GO
DON'T GO
COME BACK
PLEASE
...
Please.
Another tear escapes.
Please.
Don't go.
I remain still.
I want to go back.
So why don't I move?
The space surrounds me.
It engulfs.
It chokes.
It's killing me.
Don't go.

Why won't I move?
