The next morning, I had an acute heart attack when I realized Andrew was in bed with me. But then it came back to me what had happened, and I relaxed. I leaned over and kissed his forehead before rising out of bed.
"Where are you going? The sun isn't up yet."
"I have to get ready for work," I said. "I need to stop by the office, and then I have a high fashion tea party to set up for a three year old."
"You know, you have a weird job."
"Quoth the rock star," I said. "But I enjoyed last night, all of it..."
"Should we start sleeping over regularly," Andrew asked with mischief in his eyes.
"I'll get back to you on that," I said. "I know a lot of girls probably would have slept with you by now...We haven't really discussed that..."
"Ann, I was joking," Andrew said. "I think the fact that you a good girl who wants to wait is what makes you attractive. So whenever you're ready, just give me the green light. And until then, I will try to behave."
"I think Gia must have taught you to be so polite," I said.
"Of course. Gia and my mother both would slap me if I did something shady."
"Well, I'm going to go shower," I said. I went into my bathroom and got ready, putting on my work clothes and blow drying my hair. I hoped I wasn't too loud and Andrew had gone back to sleep. When I went to peak on him to see if I was annoying him with my primping, Andrew was talking on my phone.
"No, it isn't like that," Andrew said. "I mean, yes, of course we're together...we just weren't together..."
"Is everything ok?" I asked. Andrew shrugged and covered the mouth piece.
"I answered your phone, I thought it was mine in my half awakened state. It's your cousin, and she wants to know why I'm in your bed."
"Oh, awkward," I said. "Just tell her I'll call her later."
"She is asking a lot of questions," Andrew whined.
"Just hang up," I said. "Or you can talk to her, it's your call." I finished getting ready, and outside, Andrew had already made coffee.
"You realize we've slept together without sleeping together twice now," Andrew said.
"I do," I said. It was an odd occurrence, but I didn't mind it really.
"Any thoughts on the whole 'weekend away' thing. I mean, clearly I can control myself."
"Yes you can," I said. I just nodded, feeling odd. I already knew the answer, but I was scared to tell him.
"You don't want to go," Andrew said. "Oh God, I am totally freaking you out, huh? I tend to dive in deep at times."
"I do the same thing," I said. "Which is why I think I have to say no. I really want to go, and I want to be with you. But I think it scares me how much I want so quickly, and I have to reign in my instincts a little bit."
"Ok, because I wasn't trying to push you into anything."
"I know," I whispered. "I just don't want to push myself too far. I like you too much to rush, and things are already happening so fast."
"I'll slow it down," Andrew said. "I really like you Ann."
"So you're not mad?"
"I am absolutely not mad," he said. "I guess you have to go to work now."
"Yeah," I said. "But feel free to use my futon, ok?"
I kissed him before running out the door, and Andrew climbed back into my bed.
