Harry's POV
“Harry, stop screwing around. You have 20 minutes before the concert and you’re not even dressed.” Lou scolded from her place a few feet over as she spiked Liam’s short hair.
I stood up and walked over to the clothes racks, grabbing whatever items my hands touched first, and pulling them over my head. Khaki shorts, one of Niall’s muscle tank tops, and some dress shoes. I snickered at the mirror, and then turned to Lous’ makeup/hair chair.
Liam got up from the chair, smirking, just as Lou turned from cleaning her supplies.
“Harry, no. Can you please just listen for tonight?” Her eyes were bloodshot and her face looked worn down, a change from the normal perky makeup. My smile faded as I realized how tired she was, and I felt guilty for causing her trouble.
“Sorry, Lou. Are you alright?” I asked her, taking a seat in the plush chair in front of the mirror.
“Fine, fine. Lux was up late last night; little monster woke up crying at least ten times. I feel so bad for the others. She was crying half of the night, and man can she screech.” she rants as she rubs some gel into her hands, slicking back my messy chestnut curls.
I’d always admired Lou for being able to take care of a baby while on the road, but also worrying that someday it might be too much for her. Lou and I had grown really close on the tour, and I didn’t want to leave her behind. She was one of my best mates, or maybe a sister. It didn’t kill to have an adorable baby around, either.
“Don’t worry about the other guys, they understand. But I’m sorry about Lux. I could take her tonight if you want.” I offer. We sometimes did this, when Lou would be on the verge of sleep deprivation I’d watch Lux for the night. We just moved her crib to the back of our tour bus and I’d sleep back there for the night. I knew Lou hated to do it, but sometimes she just couldn’t find it in her to say no.
“You’re such a sweetie, Harry, but not tonight. Besides, I know Paul has plans to take you boys out after the show.” she sighs, and I’m instantly curious about what ‘plans’ Paul has. We had a couple big shows in Chicago these next two nights, so I was surprised he was letting us go out at all.
“Do you know where we’re going?” I ask, trying for some answers.
“Probably a bar. Isn’t that where you always go?” she answers, brushing some kind of powdery makeup onto my face. I always hated the makeup part, it made me feel heavy and just pretty disgusting, but Lou insisted, always saying it was her job to make us look ‘perfectly sexy’.
I felt guilty about leaving Lou alone with Lux again, but I was excited about going out tonight. Living on a tour bus 24/7 didn’t really leave much room for outings usual 20 year old boys would be doing, but sometimes we had special times Paul would escort us out somewhere for drinks or something. It wasn’t exactly normal, but it was as close at we got.
Zadie's POV
The night of King the Kids’ Chicago concert, Erin, Chloe and I had packed ourselves into the tiny bathroom in our apartment, which wasn’t really working out too well.
“Alright should I go strapless or spaghetti strap? Or is spaghetti strap too whorish? I don’t want to be a whore for this huge of a concert. But if I wore a strapless I could wear a sweater…” Erin rambled to nobody in particular.
“Just wear a thick tank top. That’s in the middle.” Chloe advised, and Erin nodded along with her, grabbing the navy tank top from the pile of clothes she had
I looked down at my jean shorts and raggedy King the Kid t-shirt Ricky had given me a while ago. All the boys’ concerts’ so far had been low-key, which called for low-key attire. This was fine for those, so I was settling on the safe option.
Chloe had curled my long auburn hair so it hung close to my mid back, and I’d opted for simpler makeup, one since I didn’t know how to do makeup, and two I didn’t want to overdo it. Erin and Chloe had offered, but it just wasn’t really my style, so I’d thrown on some powder, mascara, and a little eyeliner to get me through the night. It would do fine.
“Are we going with the guys?” Erin asked from her place applying her makeup.
“They drove the van up so we had more than one car.” I tell her and she nods, forgetting about the mascara she was applying. She turns to me, a long black streak down the side of her cheek.
We make eye contact, and both burst out into laughter. Chloe looks up from changing, looking confused, until she sees the new mark on Erin’s face. Then she starts laughing too.
After we’d all calmed down, (and Erin had fixed her black face), we piled into Chloes’ Corolla and took off for Chicago.
