Ingredients : whole urad or black daal -one cup for 2 to 3 people soaked in water for overnight or four hours ,then pressure cooked for 3 to 4 whistles,5 to 6 tomatoes for gravy ,garam masala powder , turmeric , chilli powder , cumin coriander powder ,salt per taste,lots of garlic ginger paste about 3 tablespoon,asafoetida , kasoorimethi,3 to 4 tablespoon of vegetable oil and lastly most important butter.
Procedure
Pressure cook the dal and grind the gravy.

In a pan add some oil and butter. When heating add asafoetida and ginger garlic kasoorimethi paste. Let it fry for few seconds. Then add the gravy and mix well for few seconds. Add all the spices mentioned above. Add salt to it. Let it simmer for few minutes. Then add our boiled urad daal and give it a good mix. For medium consistency add water accordingly.

Now on the low flame let it cook for 45 min to 1 hour

Now on the low flame let it cook for 45 min to 1 hour. Meanwhile keep mixing and checking as the daal should not stick to the bottom. Add the butter in between.
