As I walked deeper into the forest, the trees started to get thicker and intertwine with each other. The moon shined bright tonight, illuminating some of the trees branches. It was definitely a place that would be crawling with snakes or whatever mutants that seem to like attacking me. I prayed that just for tonight that they will leave me alone for just a little bit.

I kept hiking through the woods until I found a small open area that was far enough away for the others so that they wouldn't have a clue of what I was doing. While doing of that, my mind was replaying the scene of Mulan when she was training for battle with the catchy song playing in the background. Maybe I'm a freaky Mulan that was fighting the bad mutant animals while keeping the same gender.

I looked up and down the tall trees, trying to figure out how to train myself to control this freaky mutant power I have. I didn't have many resources at all. It was just the woods and me.

My first thought was if I lift up my hand and point it at some little tree that my powers would somehow start working. Plan one was a bust. I stood there with my arm extended, flexing my whole body to see if I could push the power out.

Well that's not how it worked the past two times. I replayed the two scenes in my head to see if they both had similarities. The first time I felt pain yet the second time the animal didn't even touch me. I wasn't angry at anything. Oh yeah duh I was scared out of my freaking wits. For right now the only way for me to get them working was for me to be scared. Great if I want to protect the group and me, I can't get scared every time to get my powers to work. I'll have to figure that out later.

So now I have to scare myself. It was kind of like when you're trying to get rid of hiccups, you tried scaring them out of you. Never really works. So how was I going to scare myself without any really danger in front of me?

My answer to that question was me closing my eyes and extending my hand to the nearby small tree. Then imagining the time that was most scared. You don't really chose the scene, it just comes to you. The scene that popped into my head was when I was six years old. I believe my dad and brother was at a basketball practice which left my mother and me home. I was chilling in the living room; watching Spongebob Squarepants. My small stomach started grumbling so I figure I was old enough to make myself some lunch. I remember walking into the kitchen all confident about how I was going to make my own food. As I turned the corner into the kitchen, I saw a small puddle of a red liquid. I then saw my mother laying on the floor with her eyes closed surrounded by blood. I shrieked a ear piercing scream. Just like my mother taught me, I ran to the phone to call 911. The phone was on the other side of the kitchen. As I moved as fast I could towards that phone, my foot accidentally slipped in the puddle of blood. I fell right next to my mother; covering my front half of my body in blood. I got back up and called 911. I cried into the phone while I talked to the lady.

Outside of my subconscious mind, my hand slowly started to heat up. Small sweat droplets started falling to the ground off my fingertips.

As the pediatrics came and put my mother into the ambulance, a women held me in her arms as she carried me into the ambulance too.

Tears slowly started rolling down my cheeks imagining that awful day. As a young child I blew everything out of proportion. My mother only accidentally slipped while in the kitchen and hit her head on the counter. She had just knocked herself out and there wasn't too much blood. My young mind made me scared. That was the scariest moment of my life accept the two mutant attacks.

My hand was on fire at this point so I opened my eyes to see if I had done it or not yet. When my eyes opened, I saw a glowing white light where my hand was suppose to be. It had felt like my heart had stopped and then suddenly a white beam shot out of my hand. A second later the small tree was up in flames. Only a few seconds later the tree was just a pile of ashes on the ground. My hands felt like when you hover your hand in the steam of boiling water. Not painful; soothing.

I didn't even realize that my breathing was almost at the point of hyperventilating. The only way I figured that out was when I heard Vrock's voice say in a whisper," Hey are you okay?"

I spun around to find him standing right next to one of the trees. "How long have you been standing there," I questioned him.

"Since you've been out here." He looked down at his feet that was kicking up some loose grass. He had the sad little boy face on when he gets caught snooping somewhere that he shouldn't be. Still looking down at his feet, he said," I heard you walk away in the middle of the night and saw you walking away from us. I was just making sure that you were running away." He looked up at me and slowly started moving closer to me.

I just stood there; my feet planted in the ground. "I just wanted to figure out how to use my powers so I couldn't hurt you," I told him.

By the time I was done with my sentence he was standing right in front of me. He looked into my eyes and said," It's fine. I understand why you want to do this. I just want to make sure that you are okay."

I looked into his eyes and said," Yeah Vrock I'm fine. I'm just kind of frazzled at the moment."

He leaned down slightly and set one of his hands down on my shoulder and the other caressing my cheek. He was at eye level at me and told me in his charming voice," I will always be here for you. You can tell me anything."

He slowly started leaning his face closer to mine. I could feel his breath graze across my skin. He moved his other hand so he was holding my face in his rough hands. I close my eyes; waiting for the moment for our lips to touch. When our lips touched, it sent a shiver up my spine which made me stand a little taller and lean into him more. Then my mind went blank. I knew I was kissing this amazing guy and that it was great. It was like everything around me disappeared. It was just him and me standing in the woods. I couldn't even remember if I put my arms around him or not. Nothing bad was happening it us. Never in constant danger. Then his lips broke away from mine. I was sent back to cruel reality.
