Chloe was sitting in the comfort of her mother's arms, as the power had just cut from the raging storms and blizzards outside. Chloe had longed to go to her friend's house, as she knew her friend didn't need electricity for her lights because she used lanterns instead. As it was December 13th, her mother said no. Her mother was the one who had witnessed her friend Jaz, known as Smile by town folk, have her mouth ripped out by two heartless teenage muggers. Chloe had always wondered why her mother was so afraid of December the 13th, so she asked, "Mother, why won't you let me leave the house on this specific day?..." . Her mother replied, "Well you've heard the story of Smile, haven't you? Well here's the truth: I was her friend who watched on helplessly, unable to save her, too weak to move... I see her ghost every December the 13th, in my sleep screeching 'Why didn't you save me!! I will cause harm to ANY of your relatives who come out on this day!!' Of course, I wouldn't let you get hurt, so I would never let you out on this day. NEVER."
