Shattered

cold rainy day. coughing up my lungs. crying out your name and wishing for the sun.
I see you in the mirror, thoughts of shattering. but the more I look it's clearer, the more I see you say,
"I've learned to say goodbye."

car rides are getting old. many things are changing. slamming the gas, as the tears stress my face.
rolling the window down; the wind stings my eyes. the thought of you.... why do I end up crying?
where are you now? I can't see you. you say you're here but I can't feel you.

the memory of you, I don't want to let it go, but the torture of you, it's here to let me know that you were a feeling, I was an expression, we were an emotion, now you're a thought. what gave me the notion that two opposing sides could be a reality?
