"Mr. Vice? What do you mean you've 'solidified sound?'" Charles asked in disbelief.
"You sound so surprised, Mr. Dike. Did you not think it possible?" Nathaniel replied calmly.
"Surprised? SURPRISED?! Why wouldn't I be surprised? It shouldn't be possible... How did you do this anyway?" Charles' face contorted into one of bewilderment and puzzle.
Nathaniel suddenly broke into a fit of laughter. "Not possible? Charlie, you should know by now that technology is advancing well beyond what we originally hoped. You really had to expect something like this had to come around eventually."
"Yeah, but not yet. And you still haven't told me how you accomplished this..."
"I don't actually know myself."
"Well then. What we going to do about it? Are we going to tell the public? The government?"
"I think we should keep this only between us and a few well trusted friends. We don't know what implications this could have. I mean, look at what I did just now." Nathaniel gestures towards the device he had been holding. "I used music to destroy that target on the other side of the test chamber. If the military knew..."
Both scientists were interrupted as the door to the elevator slams open, and a man stamped in.
"Do you know what you did? All the paperwork your little 'experiment' just caused me?" The man yelled.
"Ah. Mason. How nice of you to join us." Nathaniel groaned.
"What are you groaning about? You caused me the headache! Do you know that you just shut off half the city's power?! What the hell are you two doing down here, anyways?"
"It was just a small experiment concerning sound. Nothing too big. Nothing to concern you or the city." Charles growled at Mason Grieves, the mayor of Reno, NV.
"Well you better be able to explain this to the city council. They're gonna have a field day with this." Mason said, somewhat calmer than when he had entered the lab.
"Mr. Vice? Mr. Dike? There seem to be a large group of vehicles heading towards the lab." The lab A.I., Katherine, said. "What would you like me to do about them?"
"Stall them for as long as you can, please. We need to hide our recent test results." Nathaniel replied calmly.
"Erecting barricades on the main road now. Anything else, Mr. Vice?" She said with here expressionless voice.
"Yes. Please make Mr. Dike and myself some tea. Caffeinated, please. This is going to be a long night."
"Right away Mr. Vice."
"Thank you Katherine."
Nathaniel and Charles looked at each other with the same hopeless expressions. " Looks like we aren't going to have much of a choice on who knows anymore, now are we?" Charles said with disappointment.
