First day

I hold my breath as I see my mama answer the phone. My mom has been in the military for the past five years and every time that phone rings I fear for the worst.
"Hello. Yes the picnic is still tomorrow at noon."
I turn and head back to my room. I slowly sit down and let out a sigh of relief. She's fine. She's fine today. I have two moms in case you were wondering. Mama is a doctor and she takes care of me. Mom is in the military and is across the ocean right now. She is so strong and would do anything to protect us and the people she loves. She supports me no matter what happens and I don't know what I would do without her.
"Honey! You're gonna be late!"
Shoot! It's already 8:00. I grab my backpack and run out the door. I rush down the hall. Everything is a blur. I've been so stressed lately I barely know up from down.
I run into my best friend Avery in the hall. And my run into I mean literally run into.
"Woah Ana! Take a deep breath."
"Sorry I'm just so nervous about tonight."
Tonight is the biggest performance I have ever had. My band is playing Washington hall which is be biggest venue in our town. We are opening for some singer but to me it's my night.
We separate as we head to our classes. English, calculus, biology. Everything is the same. I walk home at the end of the day and Avery is standing outside my house with a bouquet of balloons.
"Avery! What is this for?"
"Your biggest performance yet and you thought I'd miss it?"
I rush over and give him a hug. We jump in the car. Rehearsal starts in an hour. We swing by McDonald's for a quick lunch and then pull up outside. Avery starts to open the car door as he notices that I'm not moving.
"Hey. You have worked for this for your entire life. You've got this."
I nod shakily and get out of the car. I walk towards the entrance. My night is about to begin.
