"Ally, you're going to be hanging out with Genevieve again," I tell my sister as I wipe her tears.
Ally nods her head. "Can you help me get dressed?"
I look at Vanessa and she tells me, "take your time. My mom and Genevieve will be waiting in the car. They're heading to the park, which is really far away."
I nod my head. I hold Ally's hand as we head upstairs and up to her room. I help Ally get dressed in a yellow summer dress with sunflowers on it. She slips on white lace sandals. I brush Ally's chestnut curls and put her hair up in a ponytail. I fix her bangs and comb through it. I smile gently at her appearance.
Ally hugs me and says, "thank you!"
I hug her back and reply, "you're welcome. Now let's go downstairs so we don't keep Mom and Genevieve waiting."
I walk downstairs with Ally. I see Vanessa waiting on the living room couch, staring at the corner. I look at her in pity. I push my glasses and clear my throat. Vanessa immediately looks at me. She smiles her usual goofy smile.
Vanessa and I say goodbye to Ally as she walks to the car. I watch the car drive off. Once they're no longer in sight, I close the door. I turn to Vanessa and see her staring at the corner again. Guilt crawled up to my heart.
"Vanessa, you don't have to do this," I assure my friend.
The brown-haired girl looks at me and says, "but we've been friends since birth. Heck, we might as well call each other best friends. We're sticking together through thick and thin."
I smile, relieved that Vanessa isn't going to leave me alone. Vanessa smiles back.
Her smile falters and she says something that surprises me. "When you were upstairs with Ally, I could have sworn someone walked past me."
My eyes widen. I reply, "the same thing happened to me yesterday. Although, knowing there's a ghost around, I'm not that scared."
Vanessa nods her head and takes the Ouija Board out as we sit on the living room couch. She lays the wooden board on the floor and lights up a candle. To help my friend, I get up to close every curtain in the room.
After setting up the whole room (the lights are still on, of course), Vanessa and I sit on the floor with the Ouija Board in front of us.
I look at my friend and ask, "are you sure you're okay with this?"
Vanessa looks at me. "As long as no one dies, I'm okay."
I chuckle at her ridiculous comment as I push my glasses up.
"Let's start," I say.
Vanessa and I went through the same routine as yesterday. Vanessa tells me to ask who we're speaking to.
"Are we speaking to Bay?" I ask.
The planchette moves to 'yes'. I let out a sigh of relief. I mean, what if it was May? Who knows what'll happen if it was May. Let's be real here, the little girl is a little crazy.
"What does May want with Ally?" I ask the question that's been eating me alive.
Vanessa looks at me in confusion and I mouth the word, 'wait'.
The wooden piece moves to the letters D-E-A-D. My eyes widen, as does Vanessa's. I begin to tremble and try my best to keep my fingers on the planchette. Vanessa noticed I became speechless and took matters into her own hands.
"Why would she want Ally dead?" Vanessa asks the spirit.
The heart-shaped wood moves to the letters F-R-I-E-N-D. I furrow my eyebrows. All because May wants a friend? Just rest in peace for everyone's sake!
"Okay. Well, how come you're still lingering around?" the brown-eyed girl asks.
The planchette moves at a fast pace. It was hard for me to keep up, but I figured what the letters were: T-R-Y-I-N-G-T-O-S-T-O-P-M-A-Y.
"Wait, but all she wants is a friend. Why is there a need to stop her?" I ask quickly.
The planchette moves at a fast pace again, almost scaring the living daylights out of me. The wooden piece moves to the letters B-A-D-I-N-T-E-N-T-I-O-N-O-N-F-R-I-E-N-D.
My eyes widen as my heart races. "What's that suppose to mean?"
S-L-A-V-E.
Vanessa gasps. She yells, "May doesn't want a friend! She wants a slave!"
I look at Vanessa. Shaking my head, I change the topic. I ask, "yesterday, Vanessa saw a little girl in the corner of the room. Was that you or May?"
M-A-Y.
I knew it. Before I can ask another question, Vanessa interrupts me.
"Why is May possessing Rachel every night?"
I-N-T-H-E-W-A-Y.
I raise an eyebrow. I ask, "does that mean I'm in the way of May's plan?"
The planchette moves to 'yes'.
I bite my lip before asking a question I didn't want to be answered. Although, something's been bothering me. I feel a presence other than Bay's. I ask, almost a whisper, "is May in this room?"
The planchette slowly moves to 'no'. Before I can let out a sigh of relief as I watch the planchette move to 'no', the wooden piece suddenly moves to 'yes'. It happened to fast, I didn't even hear a screeching noise of the board.
"L-Let's say goodbye," I mutter, making sure Vanessa heard me.
Just as we were about to slide the heart-shaped wood across the word, the Ouija Board flips high up in the air and tumbles onto the ground.
