Kevin's POV
"Hey man, long time no see. I missed you" Wesley slurred in my direction as he opened his front door. Alcohol was present on his breath as he pulled me into a tight hug. I have no doubt that he's already messed up.
"Dude, its only been like a day. You couldnt possibly miss me that much." I replied to him with a slight chuckle once he let go of me.
"Anything is possible man, come on in." Wesley turned on his heel and entered his home, leaving the door wide open for my entrance.
I closed the door behind me as I entered, the familiar scent of marijuana and alcohol hit me faster than I can run. I dusted my shoes off on his rug and took a seat on the arm chair that sat directly in front of the tv. A bong and a deck of cards were placed on the coffee table that was placed in front of the chair.
"Where'd ya go last night man? And what happened to your fur, you're basically a child now." Wesley laughed hard at me as he spoke. I turned my head to look at him, he was sitting at the kitchen table with his phone in his hand.
I ran my hand across my chin where my beard aka 'fur' had once been. For a while I forgot what it felt like to not have hair there.
"Uh, some chick took me back to her place last night and as for the beard, I obviously shaved it."
Wesley smirked at me as he took a swig of his drink.
"Ah, so you bailed on me to get laid."
My eyes widened as I realized how that sounded. I shook my head frantically before defending myself.
"You bailed on me!" I spoke, emphasizing the words 'you' and 'me'. "And its not like that. I was hammered and she just pitied me I guess."
"Chill out man, I'm just f*cking around." He laughed at me while speaking. "And of course it isn't like that."
The sarcasm was dripping from every word in his last remark as he gave a sly grin. I decided to dismiss the conversation with a roll of my eyes which caused a loud laugh from Wesley.
I had left Elizabeth's house as soon as I finished my laundry. She gave me $50 before I took off despite my various attempts to decline it, but she is stubborn. It was odd leaving her house knowing that they were only strangers and I was never going to see them again, but they just happened to be the kindest strangers I have ever met.
"I'm having a few people over later on if you plan on staying the night." Wesley spoke as he shoved a handful of popcorn into his mouth. I cringed slightly at the sight.
"Party on a Sunday night? Who's all coming?" I replied as searched for a movie to put on. There wasn't a wide range of movies to choose from since he uses a PVR, so I settled for Captain America.
"Im not exactly sure about the list yet, but I do know that Travis, Jose, Edith and Edward are coming for sure."
"Whos Jose?" I asked. I've known Travis, Edith and Edward since high school, but I have never met Jose.
"Oh yeah, I forgot you didn't know her. But I met her last weekend at Zack's house, shes got a nice body and can give one hell of a blowjob." Wesley spoke as he sent a wink in my direction.
"Good to know." I replied quite bitterly. My voice came out more annoyed than intended, but he didnt seem to notice.
I stood up from my spot on the couch and walked on over to the fridge, pulling out a can of Mountain Dew.
"What do you mean 'good to know.' This is great to know. Give her a couple of shots and she'll be in your bed in seconds. Or the couch in your case." He laughed at me as he spoke.
You see, there is a big difference between me and Wesley. I have respect for myself and others, but he on the other hand sleeps with any female that gives him attention. He also insists on speaking his mind, not really caring whether or not the consequences are good or bad. Yet he can be one of the nicest people you would ever meet, depending on if he thinks you are, as he would put it, "worthy of his presence". Let's just say, he is a very honest person.
I raised an eyebrow at him and turned my attention back to the movie. We watched it in silence for a short while before he decided to speak again.
"So I seen Nora today, she had a straight b*tch face when I asked about your kids. Its like she's got a ten foot pole stuck up her a*s or something." Wesley spoke as an attempt to break the silence, it didn't work. In fact, it only made me more on edge than I already am.
He took the spot on the armchair and pulled out a small plastic baggie filled with pot.
"Want a hit?" He asked as he began to pack a bowl.
I took a huge sip of my drink before speaking. With a sigh I nodded my head. "Yeah sure, why not?"
He held the bong and lighter in my direction, waiting for me to grab it. I took the bong into my hands and brought it to my lips. I lit up the bowl and let the smoke fill my lungs until I couldn't take anymore. Coughs and smoke quickly surrounded the room once I finished my hit. Wesley laughed hard at me choking and I flipped him off with the middle finger as I tried to control my coughing.
"That's some good sh*t right? I got it from Travis." He spoke with a smile.
I nodded my head and handed the bong and lighter back to him. I didn't trust my voice after taking a hit like that. He packed himself a bowl and took it like a champ, not one cough left his mouth.
Suddenly, in the middle of packing my bowl, his cellphone began to ring. He pulled his phone out of his back pocket and looked at the caller ID. He furrowed his eyebrows together in confusion as his whole demeanor changed.
"Sh*t, here man, you do this. I gotta take this call." He shot up from the armchair and went straight to his bedroom as soon as the words left his mouth. "Hey boss, what's up?" Was the last thing I heard before his door shut.
Wesley works for his uncle Lenny at some auto repair shop to pay the bills. Since he dropped out of university on his second year, its been hard for him to find a job. So his uncle recruited him and told him to only call him 'boss' during work.
I shrugged off his absence and finished packing the bowl, taking his spot on the armchair. He really needs to get a bigger couch. I thought to myself as I lit up my hit. The smoke left my lungs after a few seconds of holding it in, this time I didn't cough as much. I welcomed the warm tingly feeling with open arms as the high started to kick in.
It's been about half an hour since Wesley left the room for what seemed like a somewhat urgent call. I've had five blasts and a can of alcohol within that time. The movie is still playing as I watch the TV, but that's all I'm doing, watching the screen and not paying attention to what's actually going on in the movie. I have stopped paying attention a couple of minutes after Wesley left, but it's not like I haven't watched this movie before so I'm not missing out on much.
Suddenly, I felt the urge to use the bathroom. So I attempted to stand up from the couch, but that immediately failed when the gravity hit me and I let myself drop back onto the couch. I ran my fingers through my hair and took a few deep breaths before getting back up, this time successfully.
I made my way towards the bathroom down the hall. I staggered a bit but I still made it.
After I finished my business in the bathroom, I washed my hands, splashed a bit of water on my face and exited the bathroom. Wesley was back in the kitchen/living room, but this time he was fully dressed in a sweater and jeans instead of his casual shorts and t-shirt.
"Are you gonna chill here or something? I gotta make a quick run- damn you look f*cked up." He cut himself off as he looked into my eyes. "Yeah you're definitely staying here."
