Like everything else in their life, it all started with a foreign exchange student.

Alexandra Gonzalez was at their locker putting away their textbooks when the poster caught their eye.

ARE YOU HOMOSEXUAL? TRANSGENDER? BISEXUAL?

DON'T WORRY! WE'RE HERE FOR YOU!

JOIN THE LGBT CLUB!!!

MEETINGS WILL BE HELD EVERY WEDNESDAY, 3:30-5:00 PM, MISS TURNER'S CLASSROOM

The poster was bright yellow and was covered in little drawings of stick figures kissing and hugging that looked like they were drawn in MS Paint. It was hideous and perhaps that was the reason why Alexandra couldn't stop staring at it. Just as soon they realized that they were staring and were about to pull away, a flash of hot pink caught their eye. There was only one person in the entire school that had that shade of hot pink.

Nicole Morana.

Alexandra had never talked to Nicole and only knew her from Spanish II, but that didn't mean that she wasn't famous. Nicole's claim to fame was being the gayest gay to ever gay in the history of gay. She was possibly the most stereotypical lesbian ever. She had come from a European country that was "the most accepting place on Earth", flaunted her sexuality in everyone's face, and wore shirts with random LGBT jokes. Oh, and she was always seen with a smile plastered on her face. This only placed a large sign on their back that screamed "Bully Me!", but she took it all in stride.

But, yeah. Nicole was the poster child for the LGBT community, which annoyed Alexandra to no end because, goddamnit, not everyone who is gay acts like that and just-

Alexandra let out a sigh and slammed their locker, Nicole's LGBT+ club (because who else would start that kind of club?) now being their mind's only focus, which only soured their mood.

Fuck Morana and her club. No one's going to show up and the school will shut it down. Plain and simple.

Alexandra shouldered their bag and looked at their best friend, Josh Lee, who was debating whether he should finish his homework in his first period class or just bring it home and turn it in tomorrow.

Josh and Alexandra's relationship was... unusual to say the least. They had met last year. Freshman year was over, summer had just started, and everyone was holding random house parties on the weekend. Convincing their mom to let them sleep over at a random classmate's house for the weekend, Alexandra carpooled with a small group of girls to the first party of the summer. There Alexandra met Josh, had a few drinks, and started making out. It would have gotten more heated, but, five minutes later, they both passed out on a random bed and woke up with Alexandra's foot in Josh's face. Ten minutes of awkward fumbling and an invitation to the nearest Luby's for breakfast, the two talked, realized that they had the same interests, and decided to become friends. This led to most people to ask why they weren't dating the next few weeks and the only reason they had was that they both felt that it would be a forced relationship and that they would both be too awkward to break it off. Ever since then, the two became best friends and knew more about each other than what was considered normal for best friends.

Usually, Alexandra was happy about that, but now they wished that they didn't know Josh as he turned to face them with a worried expression on their face.

"Hey, you okay?" he asked. "You just let out your 'I'm pissed about something, but I'm not going to tell anyone about it' sigh."

"Yeah, I just remembered that I'm in school," said Alexandra, laughing with more sarcasm than needed. "What am I supposed to do? Fall down on my knees and cry for joy? This place is like a prison without the actual uniforms." Josh laughed and turned away from his locker to start walking to class. The bulletin board caught his attention and Josh squinted, trying to read Nicole's poster from his locker. Oh God, please don't say anything, C'mon, don't say anything, don't-
