FLASHBACK

*Itachi POV*

"Happy Birthday Kaya." I said, picking my now four year old sister up off the ground. She giggled. Carrying her to the kitchen, I sat her in a chair next to Sasuke who smiled.

"Happy Birthday Kai." He said. She smiled at him brightly. Our mother came over and placed plates of food in front of the three of us when I took my seat next to Kaya.

After breakfest, Sasuke and I spent the whole day with our baby sister. We played ninja with her and just had fun the entire day.

If  only I knew it was the last day I'd have with my beloved sister Kaya.

That night, father came home we each gave Kaya our presents. Sasuke and I had chipped in and both bought a locket with two photos in it. One of mother and father and one of Sasuke, Kaya and I. She loved it.

"Come on Kaya." I said. She nodded and allowed me to pick her up and take her to her bedroom. I lay her down and tuck the cover in around her. "Did you have fun?" I asked. She smiled and nodded.

"Thank you Onii-san." She said. I kissed her forehead and stood up. "Goodnight." She called as I walked to her door.

"Goodnight." I said before closing the door behind me.

A shout awoke me from my slumber and I shot out of bed, reconising the voice to be Sasuke. I raced to his room but he wasn't there.

"Sasuke, where are you? What's wrong?" I called. I found him in Kaya's room.

"S-she's gone." He said. My eyes widened and my heart rate picked up. Scaning her room I spotted something that knocked the breath from my lungs.

Blood.

My sharingan blazed in my eyes as I ran from the room, from the house in search of Kaya. Who had taken her? Why? Soon my father joined me, eyes also a deathly red.

Nobody messes with the Uchiha clan. Nobody.

We scoured the village, other clan members and shinobi joining the hunt. We searched for days, weeks.  But still, came up empty. Kaya was gone. The pain in my chest was almost unbearable. When we returned the the house. Mother and Sasuke were waiting with hopefull eyes. One look at our sullen faces, and that hope was gone. Sasuke began to cry and mother pulled him into a hug.

I went to my room and slammed the door, locking it. My anger boiled over and I punched a good-sized hole in the wall. Falling to my knees, I held my head in my hands.

"Why? How could I let this happen?" I asked myself. I sat back against the wall, listnening to Sasuke's and Mother's cries.

Only one good thing came out of this. Kaya wouldn't be here when my mission went into action.

PRESENT

*Kaya POV*

I ran through the follage on the ground, pushing myself faster. I'd done it.

I'd escaped from that hell hole. Also known as Orochimaru's hideout.  The only problem? They were chasing me.

"You can't escape! My Lord always gets what he wants!" A voice shouted. Then it was silent, the only noise being my raged breathing. I stumbled on a root and tumbled to the ground, rolling back to my feet.

I am not going back. You will not catch me. I thought. I gasped when a shurikan embeded itself in a tree right next to me. My hand went to my thigh but I cursed when I realized I didn't bring my weapons with me, only one summoning scroll.
