*Sasuke POV*
I finished packing my things for our upcoming mission. An escort to the Land of Waves. Naruto had convinced the Hokage to give us a higher ranked mission.
Lastly, I grabbed my headband from my dresser, my hand pausing when my eyes unwillingly traveled to the picture there. It was of Itachi, Kaya and I.
Kaya...
A pang of heartache shot through me at the thought of her. My little sister, kidnapped from our house on her fourth birthday.
I allowed a few tears to ecsape before regaining my composer.
She was still alive. She was still alive and I would find her.
Locking my apartment behind me, I made my way to the village gates. Sakura and Naruto were already there, but, suprise suprise, Kakashi wasn't. Always late.
We waited a few minutes untill he finaly showed up with the man we would be escorting. His name was Tazuna. From what he told us, he was a master bridge builder from the land of waves and was building a bridge that would connect the land of fire to the land of waves.
We departed and headed on our way.
*Kaya POV*
"Zabuza Momochi you say? Why would a girl such as you be looking for a guy like him?" The shop owner asked. I sighed. I've been getting an awful lot of questions like this today.
"I just need to find him, its important." I said, urgantly. The man scratched his chin, looking at me thoughtfully. I could tell he knew who Zabuza was, only he didn't want to reveal any information on him. Why, I had no clue.
"Don't know him, now buy something or scram kid." He said. I growled, my sharingan flaring up. What a jerk!
I exited his shop and stomped over to Taku who was sitting idlely by a pond. He looked at me and I shook my head. The least Madara could have done was tell me where Zabuza was! It was hopeless trying to find him with just his name.
Needing a place to think, I headed into the forest and hopped into a tree, Taku sitting on a branch right above me. I settled down on a large branch and stared at the clouds. What was I going to do? Clearly, Zabuza wasn't very well liked, if the villagers reactions to his name were anything to go by. But still, was it so hard to point me in his general direction?
I sat in the tree for what seemed like hours untill Taku informed me that someone was comming. Jumping down, I walked to where Taku said they were and found a boy sitting in a small clearing, gathering plants.
I debated wether or not to apporch. Seeing as I didn't really have anything to lose, I made my way to him. Upon hearing my footfalls, he looked up, his eyes making contact with mine.
"Sharingan? That's unusual." Was all he said, before going back to his plant gathering. I was taken off guard for a moment before deactivating my sharingan and sitting down next to him. "Do you need help?" He asked, politly.
"Yes, I'm looking for someone, though nobody seems to want to give me his whereabouts." I said. The boy laughed lightly. It was weird, but I found this boy to be....pretty.
"Well, I'd be happy to help. Who is he?"
"Zabuza Momochi." I said. The boy froze, his wide eyes shooting to my face. I could tell where this was going. Plenty of villagers gave me the same 'innocent' look right before they said they didn't know Zabuza when they clearly did. "Please, I've been sent to find him. Someone said he could help me." I said, before he could say anything. He studied me, searching for anything that would tell him otherwise.
He stood up, motioning for me to follow. "I will take you to him." He said. I sighed in relief and fell in step behind him. I stopped for a moment, turning and whisling shrilly. Taku flew over to me, landing lightly on my shoulder.
We walked through the forest for a while before a building, built up in a tree, came into view. So, Zabuza lived in a tree house. Cool.
Once inside, he took me to a dark room where a larg man with his face covered by bandages at on a couch. Only one of his eyes were visable. A huge sword was in his hand, hanging over the back of the couch as he watched us enter.
"Hello Zabuza." The boy said.
"Haku, who is this?" Zabuza asked, his eye never leaving me. Zabuza didn't look like a guy to mess with, no wonder the villagers wouldn't tell me where he was. What have you gotten me into Madara?
"She says someone sent here to you. I'm afraid I didn't catch her name." Haku said, looking at me. I stepped in front of Zabuza, meeting his unwavering gaze. Taku stayed on my shoulder, but he was ready to attack if needed.
"My name is Kaya Uchiha. I was sent here to learn swordsmanship by Madara Uchiha." I said. The room fell silent as Zabuza pondered my words. Haku stood next to him, looking small compared to the large man seated on the couch.
Zabuza stood up, heaving his blade to rest on his shoulder. He began to walk around me, taking in my full form.
"Madara huh? Well, I guess I have no choice, seeing as I don't want him as an enemy." He said, stopping in front of me. His towering figure greatly overshadowing my small one.
He snapped his fingers at Haku who rushed off, returning with a katana. He handed it to Zabuza who in turn gave it to me. I unseathed the blade, the polished metal gleaming in the little sunlight that came through the one window in the room.
"Thank you." I said. He turned, motioning for me to follow. We went out side where he taught the basics. I caught on quickly and soon enough we were sparring. It was clear he was holding back a lot, with me not being as skilled.
It was safe to say he was slightly impressed with how fast I learned.
That night, instead of sleeping, I went to the roof and stared at the stars, the soft salty breeze that came with the land of waves rippled my dark hair. My hand went to my neck and took hold of my necklace.
Looking down at it, I popped the latch on the locket and peered at the photos inside. Mother. Father. Itachi. Sasuke.
I missed them all so much and couldn't wait to return to everyone.
