Disclaimer: in the future, this will be an actual novel, much longer and with much longer chapters. But I thought I may as well post the shortened part here, maybe the longer part as another book. Each 'Chapter' is a new age, I hope you enjoy and I hope it's not confusing.

To be utterly honest, he was an extremely ugly baby. Not at all pleasing to the eye, yet the nurses, doctors, parents, still awed over him as per usual. Podgy pink skin, an awful amount of fat wobbling on his cheeks, and he just wouldn't stop crying.
And it bugged the creature that strangely resembled a human.
Having heard the baby's name but not particularly audibly, it was lucky that names didn't matter anyway, it was only really what the baby would call the creature in the end that mattered as it would finally gain an identity.
As it sat in the corner with a twisted look on its face, nose scrunched up, eyes slitted in a narrowed glare, baggy, dark clothing hanging loosely off its slim figure.
It knew it would have to be patient.

Tufts of hair had managed to make its way onto the child's head, as blonde as the midday sun that shone from above. He had never left his mother's side, not even for a second, which wasn't particularly helpful for the creature whom had wanted to study him a bit more. Made its job all the while harder. Usually it resided in the darkest corner of whatever room, not exactly to hide as no one could see it anyway.
Aside from the boy, not that he paid attention.
Occasionally, as it was observing from afar, it could make out the disappointment on the parents faces whilst they were trying to get the child to speak. Hadn't spoken his first word yet, they were probably hoping it'd be that whole mainstream idea of 'Mummy, Daddy'.
It knew though. It knew he wouldn't speak until it could get its hands on him.

He could now walk around in a mediocre fashion on both legs, meaning about every few seconds or so he'd topple over and hit the ground, before then bursting into a fit of giggles.
Babies confused the creature, either crying or laughing. A whirlwind of constantly changing emotions. But it was not actual words that flew out of the child's mouth, this was the creature's fault. However, perhaps now would be the time that it would finally happen. On average, a baby would mutter its first 'mama' or 'dada' by the time they're nine months old.
This child, whose name still didn't recite in the creature's mind, was now twenty four months old.
And so the creature stood, its lanky arms drooping down by its side, shoulders rolled forward, appearance unkempt. The celebratory day for the child's second birthday had begun to die down, relatives of his leaving and parents giving their tired son some 'quiet time'.
"So you're what's causing the big hype eh?" Its voice was slightly raspy, perhaps from not being used in a while. "What's your name, kid?"
Of course it knew he wouldn't reply, but those beady cerulean eyes were locked solidly on the creature's own cold, grey ones, full of a strange rush of anticipation. The boy had his back pressed against the paled, cream wood of his cot, in his hands were equally pale blankets of the same complexion.
"You're ain't gon' scream out? Cry for your mother and papa?"
Again, silence. Just as it suspected. With a semi-reluctant, semi-exhilarated sigh, the creature knew the process. Reaching out a ghostly white hand, it placed it against the baby's own fair skin, the sudden warmth shocking it . Goosebumps soon arose underneath its hand, almost a slight blueish glow shone also. The creature's eyes widened and the look was mirrored by the child.
Parting cherry pink lips, a word fell out.
"Ooh...Freezy."

Three
"Darling, come inside. Lunch is ready." A cheery voice rang out, originating from the inside the dwelling.
"Just a momo' mama! Freezy and I are playing!" The child had replied, earning a small chuckle from his mother.
"Well, why don't you bring Freezy inside for lunch too. I'm sure he's very hungry?" Constantly it was a game of 'play along', as the mother knew that 'Freezy' is just part of the whole imaginary friend stage that most children commonly go through. She knew it would end once her baby boy headed off to kindergarten, started to be sociable with existent beings. Started to associate with people of his kind until he no longer had a second thought about this Freezy creature.
The two pals were situated on a huge, luscious lawn, forestry outlining the edges and off to the side, a swan-shaped fountain was smoothly releasing water from its stone beak. The house was behind them, a cute little two-storied cottage painted in the purest of whites, dark windows splotched around the sides. It was an isolated home, private yet just perfect for raising a baby boy.
"So, boy, you never actually told me." The creature mused. It sat with its legs outstretched, letting the toddler pile grass roots on them.
"Told you what, Freezy?"
"What's your name?"
"Oh! Um, it's S-..." Creases appeared in the child's forehead, perhaps struggling with the pronunciation although it was a simple name. "Sea-moon!" He finally blurted out with a big cheesy grin. The creature presumed he meant Simon, but had already settled with the easier option.
"How bout I just call you Si?"

Four
The pair were inseparable. Not that anyone could separate them as one of them wasn't a physical part of nature. Yet Si could see him, and that's all that mattered. From dawn till dusk, the boy had his tiny hand clasped around his friend's arm, letting the creature lead him around, guiding him through the daily activities.
"Why do you look like that?"
"Hm?"
Simon was just full of questions, always had been since the two of them first connected. But this was a new one. Fair call, Freezy was very strange looking.
With a lanky figure, that deafenly pale complexion, long limbs, caramelised colored hair with speckles of blonde, drooping jawline, a rather exhausted expression constantly masking his features. If there was one undeniably feature of the creature, it was that he was indeed incredibly tall. The blonde toddler himself reached just above Freezy's kneecaps, and he was tall for his solid age of forty three months.
"Well you tell me, I look how you desire me to look. So somewhere in that little brain of yours," The male tapped Simon's head for emphasis, "you've got a picture of me all built up, thank god you didn't think of a fluffy pink dinosaur, huh?"
And then the giggles were released and Simon clung to his friend's leg. "You're so funny Freezy. You're my best friend. We'll be best friends forever!"
That was when the phenomenal being felt a twang' of pain right in his heart, for he knew that saying was spoken out to much, not always true. And not to be confirmed true, as he knew replacement for that title was certain.

Five
This was the day that Freezy had dreaded, for it was the day that Simon 'graduated' from kindergarten and finally delved into the world of school. He was lucky enough to even 'survive' this long, for his imaginative little friend chose not to talk to the other children, or if he did, didn't label them as friends. He was very dedicated to his own personal, lanky being.
School was an entirely different idea, one must befriend people in order to actually 'survive'. Even if you were only a five year old, it was best to make friends young.
"You all ready for school Simon?" Freezy was beginning to sick of that question, the mother having asked it far too many times that it made the creature sick to the stomach. And with each query, the little boy joyfully replied with this over enthusiastic nod.

Walking through the brightly colored gates didn't help with the nausea either. Covered in spots and streamers, a huge banner welcoming the new children, tainted with the art of finger-painting. Simon was more than enthralled, astonished by the ethereal art around him, kids dashing around and laughing, the boy's little cerulean eyes were full of wonder. Yet Freezy had a firm grasp around his hand, almost as if to warn him, yet really he was just drowning in his own fear because this could be the moment, the point in time where he lost Si for good. The blonde must not have realised that his friend was so worried, brushed it off as a mirrored excitement as he had already slipped out of the ghostly pale hand's grip, dashing off whilst his parents conversated with the principal.
And Freezy was left alone, having already lost Simon in the horizon, the school was undoubtedly colossal in size, a maze of neverending pain. He could already begin to feel himself fading away.
"You're so funny Freezy. You're my best friend. We'll be best friends forever!"
Simon was already running around with the other new entrants, one boy, Josh, Simon had now claimed as his friend.
That was when the phenomenal being felt a twang' of pain right in his heart, for he knew that saying was spoken out to much, not always true. And not to be confirmed true.
"Freezy, look, this is my new friend Josh! He's super cool and he likes football too!" The dark haired boy Simon was talking about gave a bit of an awkward wave to the empty air in front of him.
As he knew replacement for that title was certain.
