Aleen's POV

Home Sweet Home.

It all felt so cozy, so peaceful, so beautiful, so flawless.

I was finally standing outside my house. How terribly I missed it. I was overwhelmed with excitement. No word was enough to explain what I was feeling right now.

Two knocks, and the door opened, bringing my mama in sight. I rushed to hug her and that was the moment my eyes betrayed me.

"Leen, dont cry baby." Ma tried to console me.

I wiped my tears away and broke the hug. Just looking into my Ma's eyes comforted me.

"How are you Leen?" Ma inquired.

"I am good, ALHUMDOLILAH. How are you Ma? and where is Pa?"

"I am all set, and your Pa is in his study room, as always", she said, not forgetting that annoyed eye roll.

"I will go and meet him" I said.

"Alright, but make sure you come to the dining room in half an hour, lunch will be ready" Ma reminded

I nodded and walked straight to my Pa's study room. Since childhood, Pa's study room has been his second love, of course after his family. He used to spend hours and hours sitting there and reading different sort of books. I was never fond of books.

 But he was.

There I was again flushed, by a collection of deadly, unwanted memories.

*Flashback Starts*

"Leen are you coming or not?" Armaan questioned for the hundredth time now.

"Armaan I already told you, anywhere but the library"

Armaan had two of his friends to mark me and him present in our ever so boring chemistry class, so that he can take me to his 'so-called' surprise. Perks of studying in a massive school. The teacher doesn't even know if the person that claimed to be present is the person on the list.

Talking about the surprise, that was just what we were arguing about. Armaan dragged me to the library because the new books the school ordered had arrived, including his book on new planes.

Like seriously!

He was crazy about planes. He wanted to grow up to be an aeronotical engineer or a pilot and was trying to convince me to pursue the same career as him. So that we can be forever together.

"No Armaan, I don't want to be anything related to planes!" I exclaimed.

"But Aleen that means we are gonna have to separate for further studies, and I don't want to!"

There was an awkward silence for a while.

"OK. I don't want to do anything related to planes anymore. I will do whatever you like, cause that's all that matters."

We stared into each others eyes.

"cause without Aleen, Armaan is nothing" He completed.

*Flashback Ends*

I knock on the door, getting my Pa's attention. He gets up from his chair and engulfs me in a side hug.

"Assalamoalikum Pa" I say.

"Waalikumasssalam Aleen, how are you my child?"

"I am good, just missed you all a lot."

"We missed you too. Leen lets go and have lunch before your Ma starts shouting" we lightly laugh and head towards the dining room.

"Sameer I don't feel like talking now! Just tell her I am asleep." I tell Sameer.

He has been forcing me to talk to Nagham, currently on line, who will tell me the details about the reunion party. I mean why will I want to know when I don't want to go!

"Come on Leen, dont be so heartless. You know she has been calling me to know about you since you left for university, and now when you are back you dont want to talk. Now that is bullshit!" he angrily spoke in a way completely different for me.

"Now are you talking or not?" He said again, in a daring tone.

I pulled out my hand, gesturing him to give me the phone.

"Assalamalikum" I silently spoke.

"Waalikumassalam" Nagham replied.

I froze. Her voice was still the same, probably just a little matured up. There was an uncomfortable silence then. Lots of words wanting to make their way through, lots of secrets wanting to be shared, lots of memories wanting to be cherished, but all blocked by the awkward silence building up.

She cleared her throat. "How have you been Leen?" She said with a lot of content in her voice, hesitation being the main.

"Good...How are you?" I spoke, which came out more like a whisper.

"I am fine too. I just wanted to invite you to our reunion party. I will text you the location and timings but you have to come. Please Leen, there are lots of questions you have to answer"

And there she said it. The questions. The questions I didn't want to answer. The questions which scared me. The answers to the questions which I don't have myself.

"Leen you there?"

"Yes"

"Are you coming?"

"Inshallah I will" I said betraying my own inner self.

"Great then, see you tomorrow"

"See you"

Currently I am getting ready for the party which is right in 2 hours. I just can't choose the right outfit.

After wasting 30 minutes I chose a blue maxi, black wedges, a black hijab, a greyish clutch and some rings. I just love rings!

I got ready in about an hour and headed towards the hotel where the party is being held.

The hotel was beautifully decorated. I moved towards the entrance door, each step accelerating my heart beat.

Standing infront of the wide open, welcoming door, I got a glimpse, a heartbreaking yet heart soothing glimpse.

Some really, really familiar faces.
