"Suspect Tyler O'Neill. Vehicle reported crashed through construction on Kincaid Bridge" A woman's voice came through the radio of a passing officer.

Rose stood up her arms around Emma as they both sobbed. Jake sat on the steps of the police station with his head in his hands, trying to stay strong for his friends.

"Is that Riley?" Noah's cry broke Rose and Emma from their embrace.

"Go to him," Emma told Rose, and gently pushed her towards her other friends.

Rose ran over to Noah and wrapped her arms tightly around him.

"How did this happen?" He nearly screamed. "How did this happen?! Hey!" He shouted at a passing police officer. "Hey, "Protect and serve," my ass!"

"Noah!" Audrey exclaimed.

"Where was he? She was right here!" He cried.

"Noah." Rose placed her hand over her mouth trying to stop her next sob.

"Come on. Breath." Audrey advised.

"I don't understand." Noah broke down into Rose's arms, Audrey quickly moving to help the blonde hold up their friend. "Who would kill her. I need to know." He added when Emma joined them.

"Yeah. So do I." Emma responded wiping her tears away and storming off.

"Noah, I'm so sorry." Rose cried out.

"Rose..." Noah took a deep breath before wrapping his arms tighter around her.

"Honestly, guys, this is a tough one to talk about." Piper Shaw's voice came through the speaker of Rose's phone as she sat, cuddled, on Emma's bed with Brooke as they cried over their fallen friend. Emma was standing by the window, looking out to the yard below. "I mean, I've covered some terrible things, but last night, I felt it. The hunt for Tyler O'Neill ended in tragedy and another Lakewood teen lost her life. And the press will be hyping the curse of Brandon James and looking for someone to blame, but I've met these kids. Their loss is impossible to describe. So I'm not gonna try. My heartfelt condolences go to the friends and family of Riley Marra. I'm so sorry for your loss."

"Could you turn that off?" Emma questioned finally looking away from the window.

Rose shifted so she could reach her phone and quickly turned the podcast before wrapping her arms back around Brooke.

Brooke let out a shaky sigh. "I can't believe she's gone." She gripped Rose's hand tightly. "I can't believe I abandoned her." A new set of tears fell down her cheeks.

"Brooke," Emma sighed sitting on the bed. "we both did."

"But you were worried about me." Brooke sobbed. "And I was answering a booty call. To a guy who didn't even show." She buried her head in Rose's shoulder.

"Brooke, it's not your fault," Rose assured her best friend, rubbing her arms.

"You know, I don't think I'm gonna make it through this town hall thing." Brooke sniffled, grabbing her compact mirror. "None of this waterproof mascara actually is."

Emma reached her arms out towards the other two blondes. "Come here."

Brooke rested her head on Emma's lap while Rose put her head on Emma's shoulder.

"You can go one day without mascara," Emma added, running her hand through Brooke's long hair.

Rose let out a sad laugh. "Riley had such long lashes."
