1984it's only been a few months into the year and not much happened to be honest.
well, the amazing thing is is that I got the part of blossom! ahhhhh. it was a great day, i was in the kitchen with my parents ,helping out with dinner when the phone rang. i picked it up, hoping it would finally be someone to tell me my future.
and it sure was! they loved my audition and said that out of the couple hundred girls they auditioned ,I had a special quality to my craft.
mike had told me that he saw other big kid stars at the moment like drew barrymore ,alyssa milano ,tori spelling, and shannen doherty.
fortunately enough though, I got the part and knowing that I went up against them all sparked a little bit of excitement inside me.
you should've seen me and parents' reaction. while my mom and my dad were jumping around in disbelief, I just dropped the phone and didn't do anything. it was like I was in shock.
as soon as my mother pulled me back into reality, I realized what had happened and started crying. that's right. i cried and cried like a little crybaby, I was so happy.
after that I decided to call corey ,since he told me to as soon as I found out.
he went ballistic ,hung up the phone, barged through my front door and we both celebrated with pizza and a giant chocolate cake we had ordered in from the pizza place around the corner. it was pretty amazing seeing that boy fit so many pieces of pizza in his mouth all at once.
his new movie was to come out this year, and we were both super psyched.
i'd never been to a movie premiere before and corey was telling me about it and how hyped up it would be. we spent hours thinking about what it would be like see so many famous people, having cameras take pictures and being able to experience it all.
anyway, the new year didn't seem much different. new years eve was supposed to be really great and unforgettable but unfortunately, corey had to go away for a while. something to do with his movie and so his family went along, leaving me completely in the dumps.
i sat there in my room half of the night. my parents were hosting a little new years eve party to the new friends she made over at where she worked. my father too.
when my mom finally got pissed at me for being locked up by myself, she nearly knocked my door down just to yell at me to go socialize.
"get your ass in the living room now!" and then she slammed the door shut.
i rolled my eyes, set my sketch book down, turned off my record player and prepared myself for all the bragging I knew my mother was going to do.
"she got a part in a new movie that's going to be coming out next year! it's going to be amazing. she's truly a blessing to our family." i forced a smile as my mother held on to my shoulders while standing in front of people I barely knew.
she would go on about how talented I am and that they were sure to see me become as big as Rita Hayworth.
fat chance.
when it was 11:58 ,everyone gathered around the television to welcome the year, 1984.
i was slouching on the couch with a rainbow party horn hanging from the side of my mouth ,frown on my face and sorrow in my spirits.
10, 9, 8, 7, 6...
man ,new york sure looked pretty from where I was sitting. it would be great to visit there one year for new years.
