The Believer

The storm

Ive been grounded for a month now, my parents are traveling the world while im stuck with the housekeeper. Im an outcast at school except for when the boys are trying to hit on me. I have nothing going for me in life except for my love of the ocean. I own a small boat and its parked by our dock outside my house. My parents are rich so we live in a big house beside the water. I got a bag containing my phone some cash my wetsuit my monofin and goggles. I them put on my blue bikini, put my hair in a braid threw a baseball cap on my head and some shorts on. I slipped on my vans and snuck out of the house while Yolanda our housekeeper took her hourly nap.
I hopped in the boat set my stuff down and started the engine. I have a nice little sailboat, they took the sail off it and replaced it with a 44 horse power engine. I set off into the water and 40 minutes in I was under the bridge out of the beach zone and now in the ocean. I drove far into the heart of the ocean. I didnt pay much attention to the dark clouds starting to form. Suddenly it started down pouring, thunder, lighting, wind and rain coming down fast. The waters seemed to come alive as they crashed against the side of my boat. I tried to get away from the storm but the engine seemed to be broken then it started smoking. As if like magic a whirlpool started to form taking my boat and I down with it I tried to save myself but my foot got caught in a rooe I had laying on the ground of the boat. I was squirming to get it untied when a huge wave overtook the boat and I went under I couldnt breathe I tried to swim the the top but the waves kept pushing me down. Usually i can hold my breath for a while but I wasnt prepared. I finally got the the surfaces just as a huge wave, followed but the boat hit me and then I was gone.

When I woke up I was laying on the sand. I slowly got up to feel a raging headache growing, i felt my head and I noticed there was blood on my hand so I was bleeding I must have gotten a cut on my forehead during the storm. I looked to my left and saw my boat, parked on shore and there was basically no damage to it at all. I slowly got up and walked over the the boat. Inside was my bag containing all my stuff in it and the rope I caught my foot on. I slowly turned my head and looked around at the huge island I was standing on. It was getting dark so I checked a comparment on my boat and found my flashlight that I hid on my boat. I turned it on to see that it was broken, I got angry and threw it in the water and continued my search of the Island anyway. I walked further towards the trees and rocks. The trees formed a little archway big enough for someone to walk through kind of like a doorway. I walked past a tree with carvings on it, i looked back to try and read the markings but my vision had blurred i wiped my eyes and continued walking. The trees looked like they reached up to the sky, if you looked up you could get a glimpse on the moon hiding behind the clouds. The sky grew darker and the trees started blowing in the wind. The ground of the Island was coveree in sand and shells and few patches of grass. Sticks, bugs, and fallen coconuts seemed to cover the floor as well as the shells. I started picking up the sticks and a few rocks to try and salvage a fire near shore. I heard a cracking sound but I shook it off thinking it was an animal of some sort. I brought the sticks and rocks back near the boat and arranged the sticks in a teepee form and placed the rocks around acting as a border. I went back to my boat and got a lighter out of the backpack pocket that I keep in there for emergencies. I lit the lighter and the spark hit the wood and I held it there until the wood caught on fire. I sat and watched the wood burn for awhile before I put it out and got inside my boat and slept.
