As I promised, this one is really long. Almost 2000 words. Wow! I couldn't think of a song to go with this one, if you guys know of any put it in the comments and I can attach it. Okay you guys know the drill, all rights reserved and no copies should be made without my permission. Do I really need to put that at the beginning of every chapter? Oh well, on to the story!

Lana's POV

As Lana slowly opened her eyes she winced as light from the window shined into the room. As soon as her eyes adjusted, she sat up and glanced around her small home. It wasn't much but it was all she had ever since she left her homeland.

Lana's house was made of a ship that she had sunk years ago sort of by accident. It was when she was very young and back when she actually felt a little guilty about the way they had to eat. She had swore off ever eating humans again, thinking that she would be fine considering that sirens were practically immortal and that not even starvation could kill them. She just assumed that she would get used to it over time but she didn't factor in how it was a sirens nature to kill. After about 6 months of not eating, she saw a ship and she suddenly couldn't take it anymore! Instead of just enchanting a few of the sailors, she lost control and ended up making the crew crash the ship on the rocks and drown themselves. Once the ship was below the waves, she gorged herself on the entire crew. She still didn't know how she could eat that much and still keep her figure but decided that it was far too early to think about such things of the past.

She got up from her bed and stretched her back wondering what she should do today. She didn't have to go and catch food since she ate last night and usually one human lasts her almost the whole week. She picked up her brush and moved to the mirror as she began to untangle her long hair. As she brushed her hair, she admired her reflection.

Her hair was brown with small sections of light blue. It had a beautiful natural wave to it and reached all the way down her back. Her skin was incredibly smooth and she had lovely grey eyes. Her tail was blue and was the same shade as the pieces of her hair. Every time she moved, her scales would shimmer and glisten in the light.

After she finished looking at herself, she turned around. Maybe she should just go sunbathing by the shore today? Deciding that that option sounded good, she started swimming off in the direction of the closest beach. Not many people knew about the beach that she was headed to so it was perfect for a day of relaxing without worrying about anyone seeing her.

Once she reached the reef, she knew she was getting close so she slowed down her speed and began looking at the scenery. She was surrounded by the bright colors of the coral and everything was teeming with life. A young clown fish was playing in an anemone, while some starfish were laying on the rocks soaking in the sun. Looking at the starfish in the sun made her remember why she came here and she headed towards the shallow water.

As she lifted her head out of the water she suddenly froze. Her siren instincts were kicking in saying that something was headed her way and whatever it was, it was dangerous.

She started backing up quickly but it was really hard to get back in the water without splashing around everywhere making all kinds of noise. Great that's just what she needed, why not just shout "Hey I'm over here come and get me!" to the thing. Even if it doesn't know what she is yet it probably knows that something is here and it's on its way to check her out.

She managed to get most of her body back into the water and just as she was about to dive back in, she heard the most terrifying growl ever making her stay still. Hopefully this thing was dumb enough that if she didn't move, it would give up and run back to wherever it came from. But of course, luck was not on her side today because she heard it walking closer to her.
