Kat's POV
The day moved pretty quickly. It's finally 9th period. I have FCS. I just simply love cooking. My friend Kristen and Anna sat at a table near the kitchen. Did I mention that Alan was in this class also? I entered the room with urgency. I placed my stuff on the table. I laid back and relaxed. This class is so easy. Boring but simple. Simple but cause good students to sleep. The thoughts of staying awake hangs on the balance of thin ice. Everything became blurry and clear the next. My eye lids droop but I force my eyeballs to focus on something. Somehow my eyeballs glanced over at him. I could see him having a discussion with his friends. Mrs. Sager checked attendance and marked whose absent. So we went through the same old routine for every hour.
Students secretly pass notes to one another and whisper among themselves. The volume is dangerously close to a party with a stereo getting cranked up louder and louder. My head felt slightly irritated with the voices creating some gibberish. I think I heard someone scream even. Almost everything is possible at Traughber.
"Please settle down and start your Warm up." she ordered, speaking sternly.
With that every noise imaginable softly muffled until no sound except the humming of the computer dominating the silence. The occasional pencil scribble across the surface of lined paper. I focus my thoughts on the question. The white board unraveled its ancient words to: What is the tongs used for?
Let me explain about we are doing here. Obviously we have to answer the dang question. Yes, I am the one and only Captain Obvious. Well most of the time.I said most but it doesn't mean always. Does it? Exactly. We are finishing up Kitchen Utensils Unit. It's FRIDAY!!! As much as I would love to annoy you with Friday by: Rebecca Black. Its getting old...
So that brings me back to our beloved legit Warm up question. I already answered it and know it. I don't want share what I wrote. Knowing all my teachers, they will make me at least answer a question once a day. Look. I HATE getting called on. The WORST it could get is having all those demanding eyes push me into my turtle mode. Especially my teachers, since they are the ones making me talk when I don't really want to. As cheesy as it sounds, life is not fair. Yeah. I know. Everyone knows. I hear this saying ever since I was freaking 5 years old! I get the memo. So please give me my space. I hate it the most when a someone goes past their boundries and push me further when I feel most uncomfortable. Don't you don't like that? Mrs. Sager's eyes did a quick run through the rows of tables. Her eyes landed on the Anna then passed me and 5 other people. It then ricochets back to me. Dammit!! Why me? Mrs. Sager what have I ever done to you? My cheeks start to activate. (turn red--blush; sorry if it made no sense(-_-)
"Kat,please tells us what is the tongs are used for." she said.
"Uh.umm..They can be used for grabbing hot objects in the oven and flipping over meat on the grill."
"About those hot objects..I see it but it is too shy to come to me."said Alan, winking at me.
My cheeks grew even hotter. His friends grinned at me. They made silly faces at me. All I could do is look down but I decided to look up to see what Mrs. Sager would do. She cleared her throat to break the tension.
"Would anyone like to add more about the tongs?" she asked.
Alan's hand shot up in the air. (not literally that would be a pretty nasty sight)
She sighed and said,"Yes, Mr. Azare." (Azare is Alan's last name)
"CanIgotothebathroom? Igottapeeeeee!!!" he pleaded. I bit my lip to stop the laughter from slithering out of my mouth. I am sorry but his face was desperately in need of surgery. Or a normal calm face. Alan's face was twisted up into a failed puppy face instead it looked like a constipated duck.
"Please slow down." said Mrs. Sager, arching her brow in confusion. There was a slight smile creeping up her mouth.
"Can I go pee? No-I mean may I use the restroom?"asked Alan.
"Yes. Hurry." she insisted. Alan bobbed his in satisfaction. He waddled and rocked back and forth to the door. It was so weird but hilarious. Everybody laughed heartily. Mrs. Sager laughed along with us. I couldn't hold it in any longer and unleashed my laugh. Before I could stop myself, I started honking and other strange noises leaked out of my mouth. Alan walked into the door with such swag. I realized I ended up being the only laughing being in the class. It got quiet as he entered the room. Alan looked at me and laughed. I covered my mouth and tried to keep a straight face.
He turned to me and gazed at me. I could see a flower bloom in his eyes. I can't describe that feeling but I think he could feel it too. It felt like time going fastforward. My face is feeling hot. Alan didn't move a muscle. I also stood still. We didn't remove eye contact for the whole period.
*ringgg*
"Kat. Kat. Kat. KAT...!" called Kristen, shaking me like a madwoman. She let go of me and I jerked back into reality.
"What's wrong?" asked Anna. I was still processing what just happened.
"Nothing." I started walking out of the door but a voice called to me. I turned and bumped into him head first.
"Sorry."
His binder went flying to the ground. I walked over to it and picked it up. I felt him tapping on my shoulder. I could feel my shoulders growing weak.
"Kat, you forgot this." said Alan. He handed me my folder. Alan shot me a warm smile. I swear my legs feel like jelly. I took it out of his hands and started to walk away. Remembering my manners, I turned to face him.
"Thanks, Alan." I smiled at him. I turn away and smiled so hard that my cheeks hurt.
"No problem," he said. "D-do you want me to walk with you?" My mood lit up like the flicker of a match. OMG!! OMG! D-did he just ask-? Yes! Say yes you weirdo!! Don't make him stand there and wait for you.
"Sure."
Alan jogged to reach me. He steadily jogged up to me. We walked 10 paces and said nothing to each other.
"Where's your locker?"
"It's kinda near yours." Alan replied.
"What do you mean by kinda?"
"My locker is all the way down there." he said, pointing to the exact location of his locker.
My gaze followed where he was pointing. I nodded but realized he couldn't see me nod. His head was facing his locker.
"Oh."
"Bye. See you tomorrow." said Alan, already disappearing to his locker.
"Bye." I called to him. I went straight to my own locker and twisted the lock. The door easy opened and I grabbed my backpack. I held it in one hand and stuffed my hw in the opening. I gently closed my locker and descended the stairs. I rushed to my bus. He talked to me! I'm not invisible after all! Does he like me? NOOO-no it can't be. He's way out of my league.
