The Stranger

Everything is absolutely silent. The only thing I can hear is my heart pounding out of my chest. The butterflies fluttering in my stomach. I feel the cold night's air, breeze past my face. Suddenly Jake comes to a complete stop causing me to run straight into his rock, hard back.

"What the hell!" I growl rubbing my fore head. When I glance up, I see Jason standing next to me offering a hand. I gladly accept it as I feel his hand firmly grasp mine. His hand is warm and strong as it pulls me up from the filthy ground. As I wipe any dirt off my slick, black, skinny jeans I can feel his warm, soft gaze. When I look up my whole body heats up like a furnace as his eyes light up and his lips curve up into a smile. Showing his perfect teeth as he whispers,

"Are you hurt?" I quickly look down hoping he can't see my face, because I'm pretty sure that it's a burning up!

"I-I'm fine. But uh thanks." I give a shy smile in his direction. Not even daring to look into his eyes.

"Hey! You two love birds over there. Are you guys done?" Jake says crossing his arms. I quickly glance at Jason to see his eyes go wide as they shoot straight to the ground. What's that about? Jason quickly clears his throat before saying,

"So uh Jake why did you stop so suddenly?" 

"Well listen." Everyone goes quite. I hear a faint cracking of twigs, and growls. Suddenly a howl pierces my ears. We all look at each other knowing it's near. 

"Lets go." Jason whispers as Jake and I nod. We quickly sprint through the woods dodging every tree, branch, bush or anything that gets in our way. And there, in the distance I can see a small figure of a Okamiyasha. 

We all come to a complete stop, just standing and staring at the creature. 

"Jake, I want you to stay hidden in the shadows. I'll go in and knock him around a bit. I want you to deliver the final blow, since your the fastest. I'll give you the signal, and don't hesitate no matter what." Jake gives a quick nod before he disappears and waits for the given signal. "Fay, you know what to do." I give a shaky nod, hands trembling. 

I feel a gentle hand cup my shoulder. I see that Jason's eyes are filled with fear, and worries. I'm not the only one worried about whether tonight will be my last night alive. 

"I've seen you use shoot a gun. I have faith in you." He gives me a gentle smile before disappearing and reappearing right in front of the Okamiyasha. I quickly gather up my confidence, and crawl under a bush waiting for the right moment to shoot.

The Okamiyasha and Jason start circling and shooting glares at eachother. Jason quickly sprints toward the Okamiyasha. Jason swings his sword with great speed, up over his head, as the Okamiyasha jumps into the air. He then swings his sword straight toward the ground slicing through the Okamiyasha's eye and down the side of it's neck. Blood starts pouring out of the wound, creating a pile of blood on the ground. The Okamiyasha slams hard against the floor. It's claws digging into the surface of the ground to stabilize it's self.

I make a small dance in my head, so glad he was able to blind it in one eye! It's so much easier to kill it when it's blinded. I cover my ears waiting for a howl, calling all it's friends for help. But nothing happens, unless....Oh my god Jason's introuble!

"Jason! It's not safe run, hide!" I scream bolting to my feet. Jason stands there terrified and in total shock. "It's not calling for help be-" I feel something sharp pierce through my leg, causing me to collapse onto the cold, hard ground.There's an excruciating pain in my leg as I get pulled into the darkness. "Jason! Jake!" I scream on the top of my lungs. 

"Fay!" I hear Jason shout. I feel warm tears stream down my face as my trembling hands grasp my gun. I pull it out of my holster and fire until I hear a little yelp and the pressure on my leg is gone. I try to get up but immediatly meet the ground once again. I put my hand on my leg trying to stop the bleeding. My hand feels wet and warm as the blood seeps through my fingers.

I hear another faint growl and then another. I swivel my head in every direction, pointing my gun every where I hear a growl. I start to panic and fire in every direction. Their growls make my head pound in pain. 

"No! Go away!"I scream. What do I do? I need to help Jake and Jason! I can't be the weak link. Suddenly the pain in my leg starts to disappear. I can feel the wound closing rather fast. Whats going on? I lift my hand up to my face seeing its dripping in the left over blood. The Okamiyasha's growls start to get louder and louder. I can feel their presence getting closer and closer. Please stop. I can't take anymore!

Suddenly the blood dripping down my hand turns into a long whip. I stare at it in fear and then I remember. I remember everything that happened that day. Sitting in my room when all of a sudden my mom, dad, and sister sprint into my room.

Their face pale and filled with fear. My mom tells my sister to take me to him. My sister grabbed my hand, gave me a smile, and told me everything will be alright. As we sprinted into the backyard I could hear my mother's scream as she got devoured by Okamiyasha.

Then I remember my sister saving me with her sword and then also dying trying to protect me. I remember I got a very bad wound on my back, and the blood once dripping down my back turned into a wing. Then it turned into a scythe and I swung it over my head and then down toward the ground. But how or why did I forget?

A firm voice knocks me back into realization. 

"So I see you remember." His voice is strong and calm.

"Yeah. I remember everything. How do you-" 

"Details later. Right now I have to make sure you live. Your leg should be fine." As I stand up I lean on it and I notice that he's right. It's perfectly fine, as if nothing happened. All of a sudden the whip I was once holding has now turned back into a pile of blood. I stare at it for a moment before I shake it from my mind. I pull out both my guns from my holsters tide to both my thighs. 

"Do you know how many are here?" I say my voice shaky.

"About five." 

"Ok, I'm ready." I say as I take a deep breath. For some odd reason this guy calms me down, he makes me feel warm and confident. He quickly glances backward, showing me his soft, grayish, blue eyes.

"Please just sit tight and wait for me to destroy these demons." He slowly closes his eyes and turns his head back around. But what he just said kinda ticked me off!

"What?! No! I won't just sit back and watch! I'm going to help my friends! Nothing you do will stop me!" I shout, crossing my arms. He can't just tell me what to do! It doesn't work that way!

Suddenly he turns around and he swiftly wraps one arm around my waist while the other hand delicately cups my chin as he presses his lips against mine. I feel my body go hot and tingly. The kiss is warm and soft. Making me want more. What's wrong with me?! I don't even know this guy! I feel my body grow weak. When his lips finally leave mine, my knees collapse causing me to fall into him. I clutch his leather jacket feeling his muscles through his cotton, white shirt. He cradles me in his arms as my eye lids grow heavy, he whispers in my ear,

"I finally found you. My sweet little Fay."  And then I drift off into a deep sleep.
