Chapter 1

It all started with a scream. I turned my head to the right, in the direction it came from. Without thinking, I ran towards it, my heart pounding every second it took to find out what was happening. It was dark, but I could vaguely see stars above me in the dark blue sky. I felt the breeze against my face as I ran. I could smell the stale scent of the forest, and I knew that I was running into danger anytime now. I was a complete idiot. I came into a clearing surrounded by pine a fir trees. There was a dark figure standing a few meters away from me.

I took a deep breath and started to walk towards the figure, but suddenly a flash of light blinded me. Stars danced in front of my eyes for a while and then I realized the figure was holding a flash light.

“Hello…is someone out here?” the figure said in a deep male voice. Not an adult, maybe someone around 18. Thanks to the flashlight I could finally make out his figure. He was tall and built from what could barely see.

“HI!” I started. “I need help. I don’t know where I am and-“

The guy turned around, not even noticing I was there. UNBELIEVABLE! I was a damsel in distress and this GUY didn’t even notice I WAS HERE!

I was furious, so I walked forward and I reached to grab his shirt, so I could give this guy a piece of my mind, but my hand went right through him! I stared at the guy, wondering what just happened. I noticed that he was pointing his flashlight to the ground. He looked back in my direction, still not noticing me, he turned back and bent down pointing his flashlight to the ground again and was slowly reaching to touch something.

I walked towards him, slowly. I looked over his shoulder and clasped my hand around my mouth to stop a gasp. It was a distorted figure. It was a girl. She was burned to a crisp and all I could see was that she had long blond hair and a necklace with an L. I only knew one person with that necklace…Lizina Evans...

The guy turned around and looked directly at me. He had nice brown hair and piercing green eyes…they twinkled and I felt myself falling back…

***********

I woke up, startled, by the sound of my alarm clock going off. I was in my bedroom, safe and sound. I placed my hand on my forehead, taking deep breaths, only to figure out that I was sweating like crazy. I glanced at my alarm clock, which read, 7:00 am. I was in no mood to get up and go to school this morning but, I got out of bed and walked into the washroom anyway, knowing mother would freak if I missed another day of school.

I walked towards the mirror in my room and saw a glimpse of the burnt girl. I stayed frozen in place, and kept staring at the mirror. The burnt face slowly changed back into mine. I blinked and saw a girl with deep blue eyes and long black hair with a pale complexion.

“It was only a nightmare, nothing more than a nightmare…”I repeated to myself, still staring into the mirror. I shook off the creepy feeling and got ready for school then walked down the stairs into the clean kitchen.

“Good Morning Mystique” my mother said as I seated myself onto the kitchen table.

“Good Morning mother “I said, softly.

She probably noticed my non-crazy attitude, so she came and sat next to me, bringing me my cereal.

“Was it a dream?” She asked, calmly.

I looked at her startled. “Yeah…” I said.

My mother’s eyes showed concern for me. “Tell me about it.” She said.

I wanted to tell her so bad, but I couldn’t make her worry, I just couldn’t do it. In the Destineé family it is proven that whenever the youngest daughter has a dream, it will come true. No way of evading it, no way of changing it and no way of escaping it. But what scared me was that I was 17 and the earliest you can have these ‘dreams’ was at age 23….and maybe I should tell you, my family members are gypsies.

I shrugged. “It’s nothing that bad” I said.

OH! Who was I kidding! This was the WORSE dream EVER! That was what I wanted to scream?

My mother nodded. “Then, eat your breakfast or else you are going to be late, young missy.”

She got up and walked out of the kitchen. I sat there eating my breakfast in silence, until my older sister, Renée, walked in.

She took one look at me and said “Ouch…bad dream Kiki Bear?”

I stared at her. How does EVERYONE know I had a BAD DREAM? Was it written across my FACE?

Before I could say anything, my mother walked back in. “Here you go” she said holding a necklace.

It was a deep blue colour and was engraved with some weird writing.

“What’s that?” I asked taking the necklace from her.

“Well, it’s a crystal called Blue Lace Agate. My mother gave it to me when I was having bad dreams. It helps keep the really bad ones away.”She smiled and helped my put the necklace on.

It felt cool around my neck and it was giving me the aura of tranquillity and peace. I smiled up at my mother. “Thanks” I said, placing my hand on the stone.

I ate the remaining cereal and grabbed my bag, heading for the door. “I’ll be home late, cuz I have work!” I yelled as I closed the door behind me. I think my mother said “Okay” but I wasn’t sure.

I walked down Highwood Crest and down towards the bus stop on Luremond Ave,  where I always met up with my best friend Jade. Her brown hair was in a ponytail, but I could still see the pink highlight she had. As I got close to the bus stop I saw her waving at me hysterically, trying to tell me to hurry up.

“Hey! waz up?”I said when I got to the bus stop, but Jade grabbed my arm and turned me to the street behind us.

“And now I am being abused by my best friend…” I said, lifting my hands to surrender.

“See that guy walking there? Isn't he hot!?” she whispered in my ear.

I squinted to get a better look at this ‘hot’ guy. I saw a dude about our age, about 18, with slightly long brown hair, that kind-of covered his face, standing at the other bus stop across from us. He was wearing a blue shirt and normal blue jeans. I looked back at Jade and raised an eyebrow, trying to understand what was so ‘hot’ about him.

She sighed, her gray eyes twinkling and a goofy smile spreading arcoss her face. I turned back to see what she was sighing about, only to see the dude staring right at us.

I blinked.

Somehow I recognized the face. Something about his eyes….piercing green… forest…a body….and then it hit me. HE WAS THE BOY FROM MY DREAM!

But the moment I recognized him, a bus passed blocking me from seeing him. I waited until the bus left, already knowing that the dude must have gotten on that bus. I looked back at Jade and raised my eyebrow again.

“Really?! You thought that was hot?” I said pointing toward the direction the bus had passed.

Jade gave me her angry-but-your-still-my-friend face. “How could that not be hot?”She said, losing her smile. “Well anyway, he wasn’t my type, so whatever.” I let the subject drop, because our bus was coming towards us. We both jumped in and without a word and headed for school.

And suddenly, I knew, from this day forth, my life was about to change forever. How? I didn't know. But I did know it wasn't going to be normal. Especially… when you’re a gypsy…

Well that is the beginning >.> i hope you enjoyed it, comment and vote plzzzz :D
