MEETING HER
Even though it wasn't that safe to be going outside anymore, my mom still had to send Sarah and I to school. We couldn't lose out on our education because of some anonymous pattern-loving theif.
My friends Jake and Michael greeted me at the front of the school when I toppled over to them on my skateboard.
As usual, Michael over-excitedly told me stories that happened either during or after school or that I might've missed. He speaks very fast, his brain working faster than his tongue can keep up. He ends up skipping words in his sentences and makes it harder for people to understand what he's saying. It's kind of funny, actually.
Jake is more of the quiet shy type. He doesn't really talk unless spoken to. Michael's bold and friendly personality broke the ice between them, then he introduced Jake to me.
It's quite odd how the three of us became friends. It kind of just... Happened. I'm glad to have them around, though.
The bell suddenly rang, signaling for us to get to class.
"Well, that's my cue. Later!" Michael jumped, heading off to the opposite direction.
Jake was in the same class as me, so we walked there together.
"Class, shut up and take your damn seats!" Our teacher demanded, slamming the door shut right after.
Wow, she's on her period today.
She then started assigning us into groups of two for our next assignment.
I groaned when Jake and I weren't paired together. Not only that he was my friend, but he's smart as hell. The fact that he even touched our assignment would've given us an A+ and credit.
"Trevor and Khari."
Khari? Who's that?
I glanced around the room for a fellow classmate that might be looking for her partner.
No such luck. Everyone was getting into groups of two but I still sat there stranded.
"Okay. I'm going to pass around these papers, take a look at it with your partner and choose which one you would like to do." Our teacher started explaining.
"Um," I mumbled, raising up my hand. "My partner isn't here."
"Boohoo," She retorted sarcastically. "Start by yourself then."
I gave her a glare, mentally yelling unpleasant words at her scrunchy little face. She didn't notice and casually continued handing out papers.
I went with the first option and started working on it by myself. It wasn't that hard, actually, but there was a lot to do. Even worse, it was due tomorrow. Great.
After class, Jake told me how much he would hate to be in my position right now. I told him it was fine, I'd just finish the as assignment by myself.
Thinking that I cared as much as him about good grades, Jake told me to text him if I need any help. I gladly accepted the offer.
At lunch time we met up with Michael and entered the cafeteria.
"So, what's up?" Michael asked, taking a huge chunk our of the cafeteria's 'Mystery Burger'.
"Gross, how do you even eat that..." Jake mumbled in disgust, carefully eating his fresh organic lunch that his mother prepared for him.
They're both weird.
"It's delicious!" Michael responded, taking another bite. "So how Ms. bellaid's class? She finally nice today?"
"Nope," I groaned. "Still the same. She paired me up with some girl named Khari for an assignment, but she wasn't here today."
