You have been the second top student of Kunugigoaka Junior High School while your rival, Asano Gakushū, was the very top student which made you angry at times.

Finals were approaching and you were sure that you were going to achieve a higher score than Asano. Sure you haven't been able to achieve that goal yet but this time you were surely going to beat him. In order to do so though, you were working extremely hard by studying and studying until really late at night.

Right now it was around 10am and you were at the library looking for math books to read and right down notes since the test was the next day.

You searched all the isles of the library for any signs of math books, but you couldn't seem to find any.

But then you spotted a whole shelf of math books at the top of the bookcase. A smile spread across your face as you got a ladder and leaned it against the bookcase.

You didn't care to listen to the librarians warning to have someone hold the ladder steady as you climbed. Since no one you new was around you just decided to climb it. What could happen?

Watching each step you took you made your way up the ladder. Once you reached the top of the ladder, you stretched an arm out to grab a book when suddenly the ladder shook until you lost your balance.

You widened your eyes as you soared off the ladder. You awaited the pain that was soon going surge through your body, but all you felt was your body slamming into someone else's. The person was forced into the floor with you on top of them.

You stared down at the person and slightly blushed at who you saw. . . Asano.

"What were you thinking? You should have listened to the librarian baka," he groaned as he looked up at you with one eye closed in pain.

You blushed more as you scrambled off of him and glared. "Well I just didn't listen because there was no one to hold the ladder."

You then stood up and picked up the books you had dropped.

Asano laughed softly and rolled his eyes as he tried to stand up only to wobble and fall again.

You froze and stared at him. "You okay?"

You walked over to him and stared at him with worry and concern on your face.

He looked up at you and glared. "Hmm, I don't know, considering the fact that I was just tackled to the ground."

"Well sorry for asking," you said as you squatted down next to him and stared at his ankle. "I think you might have sprained it."

You pressed your hand against his ankle causing Asano to wince and continue to glare. "Cut it out! That hurts!" He exclaimed. He then sighed and stopped glaring. "Just help me get to the nearest nurses office to get my ankle checked out."

You stood up and nodded as you grabbed his arm and wrapped it around your shoulders, helping him up.

You began to walk as Asano hopped but then suddenly you both lost your balance and began to fall.

Your back slammed against the floor as Asano landed on top of you, your faces extremely close.

Both of your faces heated up quickly as you stared into each other's eyes.

You then quickly broke the stare by turning your head to the side. "Can you please get off me now?"

Asano blushed and cleared his throat as he nodded and rolled off of you.

You got up and wrapped one of his arms around your shoulders again.

"Sorry about that," Asano said as you both made your way out of the library.

"It's okay, we both lost our balance so it's not your fault," you said with a small sigh.

Asano nodded and then looked at you as you helped him walk, causing blush to appear on your face again.

"Your trying really hard to get first in the school am I right?" He asked.

You just nodded your head in response.

"Well what will you do if you succeed?" He asked.

You stared down, your eyebrows pressed together. "W-well I don't know but- hey! Your just trying to stop me, so be quiet.

Asano sighed as you both entered the infirmary. "Just asking," he muttered as you helped him onto one of the beds.

"Why do you wanna be first?" He asked.

"Just shut up! . . . My parents are counting on me to do so okay," you exclaimed as you rolled up his pants to look at his ankle.

"Why listen to them? Why not make your own goals? Isn't second better than sixth or seventh?" He asked.

You sighed and stared at him. "You won't understand," you muttered as your rubbed your arm. When you did so your sleeve moved up to reveal bruises.

Asano widened his eyes and grabbed your hand, rolling up your sleeve all the way up with his other hand.

You turned your head to the side as Asano stared at the many bruises on your arm. "Th-They did this to you?"

You nodded your head as you pulled your arm back and tugged the sleeve back down. "Let's just tend to your ankle okay." You got some bandages and began to wrap it around his ankle.

He tilted your head up with his finger and stared into your eyes. "Stand up for yourself okay? Because I don't like to see you hurt."

Your cheeks heated up much more than before. "But why do you care?" You asked as you averted your eyes to the floor.

"Because I care about you okay?" He said quickly as he blushed darkly.

Your face changed a crimson red as you turned your head to the side as he moved close to your face and moved your head until your faces were inches apart.

"I love you, even though we've been rivals for the past few years I've developed feelings for you," he said as he leaned forward.

You stared into his eyes and found something you've never seen before on his cold eyes. . . Love.

"I don't know what to say," you said as you began to lean closer until your noses were barely touching. You stared at him and smiled. "I love you too," you said as you pressed your lips to his.

Asano blushed but kissed back as he closed his eyes.

You blushed as you pulled away and fiddled with your fingers.

"Good luck," he said as he blushed and made a small smile.

You looked up and pecked his cheek. "Thanks!"

Asano nodded and patted your head. "And don't get too cocky okay?" He laughed softly as he ruffled your hair.

You pouted as you swatted his hand away. "I won't," you said as you handed him some crutches.

Asano grabbed the crutches, leaning on them to support his ankle.

"Well see ya," you said as you waved and left.

Once the week of testing ended and the test results were out. You and Asano ended up tying for first.
