My father tells me that when we got to the cabin and he turned on the TV; all his suspicions and fears came true.

My parents knew things in Cascade were going to change juristically. It was just a matter of time before it happened.

Our country was at war with Vander a country across the Teal Ocean. My father tells me he worked for the government, which was how he found out about the war. He was one of the lead scientists. They were working on ways to gain an advantage on the war. Cascade strictly kept the war a secret from anyone who was not in the government. My father knew he needed an escape plan when they asked him to start developing bio-weapons.

Before the day my father left his position as lead scientist, he saw the most horrific videos and research that any honorable and caring person could imagine.

He had come up with a prototype of the weapon that had worked perfectly on all the pre-human test subjects. As a result they decided to start human tests. They would place 5 prisoners in separate chambers. Then assess the results of each; in order for further development of the weapon.

The purpose of the weapon was to quickly eliminate threats to our country, by a simple command from a remote computer. The prototype my father had created consisted of a chemical gas that when inhaled sucks all the oxygen out of the victim causing the heart to completely stop; they would die within seconds.

But there was an unexpected side affect to humans, a cocoon like substance would form around the bodies. The scientist decided to observe the bodies further due to the side affect.

Within days the cocoons had hollowed out and turned into a shell like consistency. The scientists concluded that not only did the gas suck the oxygen out but it also removed the moisture; but father knew better. That's when my father knew he had failed to create a viable weapon for destruction but had rather made one that created something worse.

Father was scared knowing what he had done, his biggest fear being that the government would think that the weapon worked and would use it on a large scale. He decided his best option was to pick up my mother and begin the two day journey to our cabin as fast as he possibly could. He knew it was risky due to the fact that I was to be born within days; but he took the risk.
