1 month later: Friday 7 November 1974

Roger made me feel safe. So safe. He held me snugly in his arms as the English thunder and rain rattled the windows, and the only light came from the occasional flash of lightning and the moon, that was becoming increasingly brighter. The bowl of popcorn and bottle of Southern Comfort  we shared were left on the table as we held each other close on the couch. We had lost power in Roger's flat and ended up in semi darkness. Roger lightly stroked my back under my thin black dress while occasionally kissing the top of my head. I nuzzled my face against his chest, arms wrapped around his waist. It was a moment I know we both had dreamed of, but never imagined would happen.

I lifted an arm up and rested my hand in his sandy blond hair. He melted into the touch as my fingers softly cascaded across his scalp. He loved when I did this, and it made him so relaxed behind closed doors. In fact, we did a lot of romantic things behind closed doors that we'd never let our friends know we do. It's just the way we are. Roger looked down at me and smiled that damn gorgeous smile that made me melt into a smile back. He looked so lovestruck at that moment, and just so perfect. I continued to stroke his head.

"You're so beautiful." He whispered to me, like he did on our first date. Damn, he always knew how to make me blush.

"So are you." I whispered back with a smirk. He kept staring into my eyes and I found myself getting lost in their deep blue depths. "What?" I asked with a giggle.

"I just...I, ugh..." He hesitated. "I really...care about you. I really do." He was a little nervous, again, a side neither one of us would show out of these four walls. That was the trust we had for each other.

"I really care about you too, Rog. You're my best friend and we've been dating for a little while...it's been the best time I've ever had." I meant every word I said. He leaned down to kiss my lips briefly, something we never stopped loving to do for the past month or so. Sometimes it was brief like this...and sometimes it turned into something more. He pulled away and smirked confidently.

"So...you'll be my girlfriend then?" It caught me off guard a little, but this was my chance to start a relationship...and I believed this would be an amazing one. He looked at me in anticipation, I could see it in the moonlight that was now shining through a break in the dark clouds. I inched close to his face, quite slowly. When I reached his soft lips with mine, I paused.

"Yes..." I whispered on his lips before devouring them and melting into him. When we pulled away, we just laughed and hugged each other. We were both so happy. I smiled into Roger's chest and let out a soft sigh of content. Hell, I could have been held by my boyfriend all night, but my eyes seemed to want to surrender to sleep. As well, despite the heat we just generated within the small room, the power was still out and I felt a chill run through my body.

I shivered a bit, making Roger look down at me. "Ya cold, love?" I hugged tighter on Roger's waist.

"Well yeah, Darling. A little bit. I'm still in my daytime clothes, if you haven't noticed. It gets rather freezing here at night!" I had my exposed legs up on the couch, folded up near my body. It was my fault for wearing a dress in November.

"Oh, I've definitely noticed." He raised his eyebrows and I rolled my eyes, laughing.

Roger ran his hand over my legs, feeling the slight chill on my skin. He looked into my bright green eyes and bit his bottom lip. "I can go get you a blanket... or since it's getting late and you look a little tired... we could go to my room, if you want... you know, to go ahead to sleep..." I saw the playful but genuine smile on Roger's face and lifted my hand up to his cheeks. I looked at him adoringly, as if he just offered me a million pounds.
