A New Begining

The Cafe was empty. Just the employees putting muffins and cupcakes in glass cases.
"Hello, Abbey. Our favorite customer." Camille, the manager, said coming with a clipboard into the room. I sat at one of the bar stools, propping my legs up on another stool next to me.
"I just checked the kitchen's staff. Max isn't here today so do you mind taking over his shift?" She asked an employee putting away muffins. The girl nodded and headed to the kitchen, the double doors swinging as she disappeared.
Camille checked something off of her clipboard and put it face down on the counter, walking over to me.
"Anything you would like, Early Bird?" Camille asked me. She gave me the nickname Early Bird since I always come early before anyone else. That's only because Chocolate Café is in the middle of the whole city and its a good place to teleport to wherever I want to go. Also because nobody can see me teleport.
"I'll just have some water." I said. A piece of my strawberry blonde hair fell in front of my face and I pushed it behind my ear, impatiently. I put my legs under the counter as Camille put the glass in front of me. I looked down at the rippling water seeing my reflection inside it.
My eyes blending in with the light blue counter. I looked up to see Camille with her elbows and hands on the table and her knee bent behind the counter.
"So, are you coming to the fireworks tonight?" She asked.
I had totally forgot about that. That means that all day I can't teleport. I am going to hang out all day with Camille and her two employees, Madison and Kate. They don't talk much but that's better than being asked if I have a secret life. I had to go. I couldn't lie and tell them that I had something to do today because I didn't.
"Yes, of course." I said. Camille smiled and whispered something to me, leaning across the blue counter.
"You will see how much fun we will have today." She walked into the kitchen, bringing her clipboard. Camille always uses proper grammar. I have never heard her say anything that was slang. She doesn't say we'll, she says we will. Camille always corrects me if I don't say things right. In her text messages she uses proper grammar too.
I felt my phone buzz in my pocket. It was Camille;
Camille: The girls wanted me to text message you so no one would overhear and want to join us. They said that we should have a race to see who gets to Monument Dam first. They said that you should take the blankets and chairs since you always get to places before us.
Me: Sure. Why don't you guys get a 10 minute head start since its 15 minutes away.
Camille: Okay we will go right now. Also, Abbey, "it's" is not correct. "It is" is correct. Remember next time.
I rolled my eyes putting my phone in my pocket. I went up the stairs to the storage room getting towels and chairs.
In the ten minutes that I had, I played checkers by myself, played bochie by myself, and pool. My favorite games to play. As soon as it became 8:10, I grabbed everything and went into the storage closet, turning off the light. I thought of the Monument Dam and I teleported there in a small dark closet in one of the sculptures.
I opened the door, stepped out onto a brown carpet and out the door of a sculpture of the Eiffel Tower. A small version of the real one.
I set up everything in front of the band stand, seeing Camille's car just pull into the parking lot. I sat down on the chair, relaxing.
In a few minutes, Camille and the girls got to the blanket, setting down a cooler and some chips.
"How did you get here before us? We came here in exactly ten minutes!" Camille exclaimed throwing up her arms.
"Well, not exactly. Maybe...twelve minutes" I said counting on my fingers.
Camille sat down on a chair, thinking.
"You need to tell us how you do it." Camille told me.
"I can not. It is just a little trick I have been working on. No one would understand it anyway." I said. It was partially true. Not necessarily a trick but similar.
"Whatever. Let's just have fun." Camille opened a bag that I hadn't seen filled with all different games to play.
This will be a crazy day.
