The morning of the second day got Jessa excited. It was around two in the afternoon when she finished packing. She wasn't sure when the driver would be coming. The letter only said to be outside in the afternoon.
Jessa didn't have much to pack. She has a simple room with a simple bed, dresser, and a closet with some clothes. She grabs the essentials, including a necklace her mom had given her when she was born. She picks up her small suit case and silently heads down stairs. Her dad is passed out on the couch, and she didn't want to wake him. She felt bad about leaving him out of the blue. He wasn't much of a dad, but he was still the guy that raised her. She placed a small note on the fridge where she knew he would see it.
She walks to the door and is about to open it, when she looks back at her sleeping dad. Silently wishing him a goodbye she walks out the door. She manages to make it to the porch steps when she heard the door behind her swing open. Knowing she had woken her dad up she stands there frozen. She was slowly turned to face him. Pure anger shown in his brown eyes."Where the hell do you think your going? " her dad asks in a fake, innocent voice, holding the letter in hand. When he doesn't get an answer, he slaps her making her fall to the ground.
Cupping her face, she whispers " To get the hell away from you." This just makes her dad even angrier. He picks up her suit case which is now laying on the ground. He quickly unzipps it, and dumps out everything she had neatly placed in it. Seeing this Jessa quickly crawls over and digs for her mother's necklace.
" Looking for this?" Her father sneers.
"Give it back Brian it's not yours!" she yells as she gets to her feet.
"Oh so it's Brian now is it? I am your father and you will address me as such!"
She starts to laugh as she heard this. " You have never been a father to me. Now is no different. Please all I want is the necklace. You know it was mom's. "
His eyes widened as he looked at the little locket. " This is mine now. Get your stuff, and get the hell out of my sight. I never wanted you anyways. " he said as he turned to leave. Hearing this, something snaps inside Jessa. She runs towards him and immediately jumps on his back. Doing anything she can to get his hands free of the locket. Brian pulls her off of him quickly. He looks her in the eyes, preparing to throw her, when she spit directly in his face. Dropping her and the necklace momentarily he wipes the spit from his eye. While he's distracted, she bent down and grabbed the necklace. She just got back up in time to feel his fist collide with her face. Crying out in pain, she falls to the floor. He begins to kick her, yelling about how worthless she is and how he never wanted her in the first place. Knowing there is nothing she could do, she curls up into ball and begins to cry.
After what seemed like an eternity, the abuse suddenly stops. She couldn't really move because of the pain, but she started to look around. She then sees something unexpected. She sees her dad on the ground bleeding slightly. Suddenly she's picked up by a man. She tried to struggle but was to weak. He was an older looking man, lookes to be in his 50s with short brown hair with grey highlights. His grey eyes looked back at her with sympathy. She suddenly feels really dizzy.
"Relax " he said "I'm from the academy. You're safe now. He will never hurt you again." She then passed out in the man's arms. Comforted by the fact that she will never be hurt again.
