I felt the bass vibrate through my body as my hips swayed to the beat. With the sun beating down on my head and my friends shoving themselves against me, I couldn't be anywhere better. I swallowed the black burning liquid as a dizzy sensation came over me. My friends' slurred words brought another figure to my attention, just rows down wearing the exact same ripped jean shorts the day we met.

I spun quickly, a little too quickly as I would have hoped. I split some of my colourful beverage over a girl wearing a white top. The boys cheered as I attempted to apologise, but just as fast as my drink disappeared so did she. I turned back to see if my girl was still there, when I realised she wasn't my girl, only in my dreams.

The sun hit her porcelain skin in a more majestic than candid way, but if I could capture her for the way she looked today I would forever hold that image to my heart.

But it's the way she looks to him, the way she studies his face as if she's taking notes and storing them in the back of her head for safe keeping. I continued to stare as her and her new found interest make their way over to me.

"Stop staring!" I screamed to myself.

As she walked past I get a wharf of her scent, and it surrounds me for longer than I expect. Her blue shirt brings out that natural tab she had and compliments her bright blue eyes that adorn her face. As I take in the scent it caused me to comb back through my memories to our last conversation.

The way her white dress fell down her sides as the top hugged her ribcage.

She was beautiful.

"Don't think about Ed for a minute" I asked her.

Inches stood between us but it felt as if she was miles away.

"If I had the courage to begin with, would you love me like you love him?"

A small smile played on her lips as she drew closer to me.

"I would love you with no hesitation, with no comparison and no boundaries" A smirk formed on my face as her lips drew closer and closer, only to press against my pink cheek. The close proximity of the elevator made it impossible not to be intoxicated by her sweet strawberry scent.

She shot me one last smile before she entwined her hand with her new other. I felt my heart fall into my stomach as I continued to watch my first walk away into a crowd of people and get lost from my vision. She loves, but not me. Her heart was once mine but foolishly I let it slip away like grains of sand falling through the empty spaces in my hands. I've caused her enough trouble already.

"Enough, Mike, enough"
