Sweet Revenge

After I raced back to my 'home', I collapsed onto my makeshift bed and passed out from trauma and exhaustion. Usually, my nightmares are about my 'mother', but, as you can imagine, things were slightly different tonight. I had never been so scared in my life, not even when I was kicked out. Being homeless is one thing, but being lifeless would be so much worse. I can already feel the bruises forming on my arms and back from where the guy tackled me, not to mention the black eye. How the hell am I gonna explain this to Grillby? 'I'll think of something tomorrow' I thought as sleep finally overtook me.

I woke up late that morning, so I got there at around 7:45. Just enough time to do the pre-opening scrub down. All the adrenaline I had from being late helped me finish super early, so I went to hang out in the back, completely forgetting about my black eye and bruised up arms. It took Grillby a few moments to notice that I was there. When he looked at me, he did a double-take. His response was immediate. " what happened?"I thought quickly, " I ran into a doorknob" I said " I know you're lying", he stated" but it's opening time. I want you to stay after work so you can tell me what really happened." "Yessir" I responded quickly. I then put my apron on and got straight to work.

After we got done cleaning up and Laura left, Grillby pulled out a chair and gestured for me to sit. He soon did the same for himself in the seat next to mine. " I want you to tell me what happened to you Davey"he said in a serious, fatherly sort of way. " I already told you." I said. I know that won't work, but maybe he wouldn't question it. "You don't get bruises on your eye and your arm from running into a doorknob, now tell me what's going on." Damn, there goes my master plan. I finally worked up the courage to tell him. Everything that happened last night. tears fell freely as I explained the situation. He hugged me tightly, and surprisingly, it didn't burn me, It was very warm and... comforting.  he then carried me up to his apartment, which was directly above the restaurant. I fell asleep the second I hit the couch.

The next day, I saw the three boys who mugged me's pictures on the T.V. It was on the news, as always (I quickly learned that monsters absolutely hated sports), and they were reported missing. Grillby gave me a smile, and I quickly got back to work, not at all restraining my grin.

A/N: what happened to Davey"s attackers after this is entirely up to you dear reader. I'm so sorry that this took me so long, but with school recently starting, It's kind of hard. I might update tomorrow, but don't get your hopes up. It's pretty stormy, so electricity isn't consistent. bye for now!
