We made it down the main hallway by the time I had asked him what his name was. He answered "Kelani." My imidiate thought was Hawaii , but he corrected me , and said he was from Europe but not born there. He had an eventful childhood , born in Hawaii and moved to England when he was 4. I however had lived in Manhattan my entire life, there were no stories for me to tell. We made it to the Cafeteria and neither of us had anyone to sit next to so we decided to each lunch together. He was a vegan to my surprise. This subway boy kept becoming more interesting.
Another small girl came over to tell us today was free ice cream day. Only he was Vegan and I am lactose intolerant. So we both stayed seated , but the girl didn't leave. She stayed class by and started to talk. Would this be my first girl- friend ??
Her name was Emberly but people called her Em.
She seemed nice to talk to , I wonder what her talent is.By the time lunch was over and violin lessons began and reality set in. I was not only here for lunch friends and subway boys. I was here to succeed and to make it to grand orchestra and make my parents proud. I was here on more than one mission.
The violin teacher was strict and sophisticated. She didn't look like someone who tolerated any slacking off. As soon as she passed out our scales and music sheets for this semester I was intimidated. After class I ran into subway boy in the hall again. He was just out of guitar and we were both on our way to art appreciation. My parents insisted I focus on all talents while I'm here , so I use all the money they paid into this. I'm horrible at art , I wonder what Kalani is like with a brush and paint? This will be interesting
