Welcome to the Modern Marvels Pavilion and the world of tomorrow.
A greater world.
A better world."And you wonder why people think we're so bigheaded." Marilyn almost giggled as she mumbled to Howard discretely before taking the stage.
Marilyn was dressed in a waist synching black dress that wrapped around her curves and stopped above her shin. The sleeves reached her wrists, but he neckline dipped into deep V but still seemed to be conservative enough that Howard wouldn't cause a fuss. Of corse she fashioned her favourite ruby red pumps, which coordinated perfectly with her painted lips.
Ladies and Gentlemen,
Mr. Howard Stark and his twin sister Ms. Marilyn Jean Stark. And Bucky truly couldn't keep his eyes off her. Of course he had followed what Marilyn had said and found Steve a date, and himself one too. Well, for the most part. His date actually had a solider of her own who was a friend of Bucky's, so Bucky, being the gentleman he is, escorted her so she wouldn't have to part from her friend. It's not as if any girl could possibly tear his mind from Marilyn Stark anyways.
He knew, as he watched her, that there was no other girl he was fighting this war for. She'd given him something to fight for. But fighting also meant leaving her. Bucky really didn't want to think about that though. Because he knew that Marilyn was it. And he didn't want to let go of that before they'd really gotten a chance. He wanted to ask for her to wait for him, to put a part of her life on hold, but he could never ask that of her.
"Ladies and Gentlemen." Marilyn greeted the crowd with a charming Stark smirk. "What if I told you that in just a few short years, your automobile won't even have to touch the ground, at all?"
"Yes." Howard confirmed excitedly. "With Starks Gravitic reversion technology. You'll be able to do just that."
Just as the automobile had hovered from the ground it was greeted with hushed whispers of amazement amongst the crowd. The car, due to the Stark's luck, crashed to the ground with a shaky bang, making Bucky cringe at the sound. Marilyn bit her tongue when she was about to laugh, her and Howard sharing a mixed look of embarrassment and amusement between them. The twins were lightyears ahead of their time, which only made them a greater threat to Hydra. And of course, they were always watching.
"Well I did say a few years, didn't I?"
XOXO
"Marilyn Jean Stark, may have an autograph?"
"How did you get back here, James?"
"They said you were expecting someone matching my description, doll."
"Oh yes, that's right. I did tell them to watch for a desperately infatuated young solider."
"That hurts, Mar."
Marilyn could feel herself count back from three repeatedly in her mind as her eyes locked with Bucky's. Her smile flattered when she felt the nervousness built up inside her stomach. In all honestly, Bucky scared her. Feeling this way terrified her. But letting him go seemed just plain heartbreaking. Marilyn never thought she'd feel this way for a man, let alone a solider, especially one that looked at her how Bucky did.
"This isn't a goodbye." Bucky mumbled, trying to sound more confident than he felt. "I'll be damned if you think I'm letting you go."
"Just when I thought I'd gotten rid of you."
"You don't fool me, y'know." Bucky's lips twitched upward, mirroring the know-it-all expression she often wore. "I can feel it when you look at me."
Marilyn felt her eyes water slightly before she rolled them carelessly with a scoff. But she could feel her insides crumble and her knees threatening to shake from under cool exterior. Marilyn blew a puff of air from her plump lips, in an effort to compose herself. She kept her cool, because that's all she knew how to do. She had to ignore that this was a goodbye, or else he'd know just how fond she'd grown to him.
"Would you like to maybe take me dancing, solider?" She asked him softly, letting the purity in her voice break through. "I'm afraid I'm not very good though."
"I guess we'll just have to learn together then, gorgeous."
"Well okay, but you have to let me lead."
(You guys are so great I can feel so much love from you guys it means so much when you comment like yous have thank you X )
