After about an hour of practicing Hayden was able to walk at a normal pace as long as she focused. She noticed that Damon was not in the house and decided to ask her parents where he was. Just as she was about to ask, Damon came walking through the front door with their Uncle Travis and Uncle Samuel. "Where have you been?" Hayden was surprised that he seemed to have grown so close with them in a short amount of time. Damon lifted her into a big hug and spun her around.
"You're up. How are you feeling?" Hayden was now blown away by the person standing in front of her. She could see how Damon's quiet nature had changed into this outgoing person who now stood towering before her. Being around more family seemed like it was helping him to come out of his shell.
Once Damon set Hayden down she answered him, "I'm feeling better, different obviously, but better. How are you? Do you feel any different?" She mainly asked because of his new found personality.
"So far I just seem to have a lot of energy, but it seems like that's it. I've just been running with Uncle Travis and Uncle Samuel to let off some of the energy. They think I might be more like mom and that I might start showing shifter abilities soon." He had a large grin on his face as he spoke to Hayden. She was happy for him and her new abilities were growing on her as well. She still wished that her parents had told them sooner, but mainly so she could have been better prepared to deal with the change.
"Maybe I can spend some time with dad to practice a little too." Hayden looked at her father and saw him beaming back at her. He thought to himself, finally his daughter knew who he truly was and she accepted him. Then he frowned. "What's wrong dad?" Hayden worried that he might not want to help her until Jackson spoke.
"Nothing honey. I'm just not going to be free for a while. I still need to help your grandmother. However, I did speak with some of my family and asked them to fly out here to help you adjust. My sister Jacklyn and my mother Daniella should be here soon. I know they took the next flight out from when I called. They have a lot of experience and were both very eager to meet you." Hayden thought it over quickly and decided that it would be good for her to meet family that was more like her.
Within the hour, there was a booming knock on the door. Hayden worked very hard to walk at a normal pace to the door. When she did finally open the door two tall women stood before her. The younger of the two looked to be in her mid-twenties and wore a faded pair of jeans with a loose flowy top that matched her purple sneakers. Her long merlot colored hair was braided down her back and stopped about half way. The woman who stood behind her was possibly in her mid-forties and had short blond hair that matched Hayden's. She was wearing a light pink dress that was about knee length with a strand of pearls hanging loosely around her slender neck. Her white high heels gave her about five extra inches. Both women smiled kindly at Hayden before hugging her. Both women smelled like a sweet perfume that seemed very familiar to Hayden, like she had smelt it before.
Camille came up behind Hayden and greeted both women with a hug and a quick kiss on the cheek. She greeted the younger woman as Jacklyn and the older one as Daniella. "Hayden, we have waited so long to finally meet you and imagine our surprise when your father called us and said you were taking after him." Pride filled Daniella's eyes and was easily heard in her voice. They both stepped inside and greeted everyone else. They fawned over Damon for a short time and then asked Camille if she had had the creature talk with her children. Camille shook her head with an expression that said, no, but I'm sure you will, and she was right. Daniella whisked both children into the living room and sat them down.
"Where should we begin?" Hayden and Damon could see the excitement in her eyes as she thought how she wanted to begin. "The fairy folk have always been an interesting topic, but they get so much attention already, I think we will save them for last." Jacklyn suggested the witches, "What a marvelous idea Jacklyn. The witches are normally the ones who start things anyway, so how fitting. They have a long history with our kind, vampires that is. Our blood lust is a nice little parting gift from a southern witch who grew a little too attached to a five hundred year old vampire who lost interest. Witches have always had a bad habit of letting things go." Hayden was still stuck on the blood comment and was wrinkling her nose when Daniella noticed. "Oh don't worry dear, you are a hybrid or so I am told. If you do not have the lust for it yet then I am fairly sure that you will not get it. It is one of the first changes you would have noticed as a new vampire." Hayden breathed a sigh of relief.
