Hayden thought about what he was saying and realized that he was right. Her parents would not have come back if the coven had asked. They would have thought it was a trap. Her grandmother being sick was the only reason they came back when they did.

"Why should I believe anything you say?" Hayden wanted to, but she couldn't explain why. Shawn looked hurt that after all his explaining she still didn't trust him. He knew he shouldn't, but he had to make her understand if they had any chance of defeating the werewolves. He started to walk toward Hayden and she instinctively took a step back. He reached out his hand and took hold of hers.

"Trust me and don't let go, okay?" Hayden couldn't help but feel his touch was familiar. She slowly relaxed and let him into her thoughts. Soon Hayden was standing next to Shawn, but it was daytime or at least there was a bright light and smoke everywhere. Hayden covered her face as Shawn pulled her to the edge of the forest. From the hill they could see that Aberdeen had descended into chaos. People were being chased from their homes by giant wolves. Hayden could see that the streets were littered with bodies. There had to be a way to stop this from happening. She turned to Shawn and asked him to take her back. She didn't want to see anymore.

As soon as she asked, the smoke disappeared and they were back in the dark woods. Hayden wasn't sure if he had the ability to show her things that were not real, but at this point it felt very real. She had felt the heat on her face and the burn in her throat from the smoke that had filled her lungs. Even if he was lying, she had to tell her parents about him and let them decide what to believe. She looked Shawn in the face and saw his eyes pleading with her to believe him. "I have to talk to my parents and let them decide. I will meet you here tomorrow and let you know what they say."

Shawn took her hand before she left and she felt something in her hand when she pulled away. She looked at her hand and saw a necklace with a long silver chain and a shiny moonstone set in a silver backing. When she looked up to thank him, he was gone. She didn't understand why he was so secretive, but he always left her wanting more. She made her way back to the house with the necklace in her pocket. She opened the front door and found her family waiting for her. Her face grew hot and she knew she was going to have to explain where she had been.

Her father was the first to speak to her, "Did you really think you could sneak out in a house full of vampires and shifters?" Hayden was still getting used to all the abilities that a vampire had and she had forgotten about the hearing. "So, where have you been at such a late hour?" Hayden's father said.

Hayden thought about what she was going to say and realized there was no good way to tell her parents that she had been out with a witch who had been a part of making her grandmother sick and oh yeah, they were really just trying to help the town. "Please keep an open mind about what I am going to tell you." Hayden started from the beginning and told them about meeting Shawn earlier that morning and making plans to meet him later that night. She also told them about the intense connection she had felt to him from the moment they had met. When her parents heard this part they both looked at each other like they knew something that she didn't. "What don't I know?" Her grandmother was the first to answer her.

"When a shifter or werewolf has the feeling that you described it normally means that they have imprinted on that other person." Hayden looked confused so Stella continued, "In other words it means you have found your soulmate." Hayden thought about how she had wanted to trust him and felt like she knew him, maybe those feelings were also related to what her grandmother was saying. Shawn did say that he had seen them together in a future. Maybe that was why he was so comfortable with her.

Jackson looked disapprovingly at Stella, but everything she had said was true. Camille had done the same with him and it was one of the reasons her parents finally accepted him into the family. This was something that was taken very seriously in their culture, but Jackson wanted to make sure that this boy was truly what Hayden thought he was.
