The Party

The party starts in three hours and I have absolutely nothing to wear. I guess I only had one option. I pulled out my I-phone and called Nicole Turner. My ex best friend. Who now happens to be the popular girl of the school. She decided her popularity was more important than our friendship so then we just stopped hanging out. She answered on the third ring and said "Hello..."

"Hey, do you wanna come over and help me get ready for this party...?"

"Sure! I'll bring some clothes. I've always wanted to curl your pretty blonde hair. " she replied very enthusiastically.

Well that was easier than I thought it would be. Wow. I decided to take a shower before she got here. I took my shower and blow dried my hair. I put on a pair of sweats and a tank top as i waited for her. The doorbell rang, and i sprinted down the stairs so i could beat my mom to the door. I was to late, my mom was standing their talking to Nicole.

"We've missed you around here Nicole!" My mom could not be any more embarrassing. I grabbed Nicole's hand and dragged her to my room. She put a very large duffel bag on my bed. My eyes widened.

"Why'd you bring so many clothes?" I asked.

"Well, I figured you would want a lot of options.. " She trailed off. You could tell she was uncomfortable being here. She avoided my eyes and she was really stiff. "We could start off with your outfit. I brought 3 dresses and two other outfits." She said.

"I would prefer to not wear a dress." I said awkwardly. She handed me some jeans and a shirt that looked way too small. I grabbed them and headed to the bathroom to try them on. I somehow managed to squeeze into the outfit and i walked back to my room. I was scared she would say that i looked hideous or something, but she actually did the opposite.

"That looks gorgeous!" She exclaimed. I turned around to look at myself in my full body mirror. Surprisingly, the outfit looked really well. The gray skin tight jeans, brought out the grayish-blue in my eyes. The crop top made my curves look amazing. I turned around too see her smiling. "Now lets start your make-up and hair." She said very excitedly. As much as i wanted to decline her offer, i followed her to my vanity. She pulled a smaller, but still large, bag out of her duffel bag. Wow, she must have been really excited to help me. She started applying brush after brush on my face and soon enough, she told me to look into the mirror. I turned towards my mirror to see an unknown reflection staring back at me. That couldn't be me. My cheeks aren't rosy and I don't look this good. My hair was curled and i had grays and pinks all over my face. I looked, like i should be in Nicole's group. Like i belonged at the 'popular' table. I was speechless. How could anyone make me look like that.

"Oh my gosh." Was the only thing i could honestly say.

**at the party**

As we arrived into the parking lot, I could already tell i didn't belong here. This was so not my scene. We walked into the doors of the huge, loud, mansion. There were red plastic cups everywhere. The music was literally, shaking the floor. and, i saw no one that i actually hung out with there. Nicole was already off flirting with some boys. I had no clue what to do. But just before i could make any final decisions, he walked up to me.

"Hey pretty lady! Do you want a drink? Slurred Daniel. You could obviously tell he was drunk.

"Errmm... Im not really much of a drinker." I stuttered out. I really felt like a nerd now. He grabbed me and pulled me towards him. He very sloppily put his lips on mine. He taste like beer and something else. I tried to push him off of me, but he just grabbed my arm and started heading to the stairs. Right before I could even try to save myself a strong arm pulled me away. I was jerked backwards and slammed into the ground. Hard. It was Carson.

"Get the hell off her man!" He growled.

"Sorry man, didn't mean to mess with you girl." He slurred back. I could already tell Carson was ready for a fight so i grabbed his hand and pulled him away. He reluctant got into my car with me and we drove to the small diner we had in town.

"What were you thinking?" I yelled at him.

"I just wanted to help."

"I don't need YOUR help. Your not my boyfriend. I'm so sick of you trying to do everything for me! let me be my own person for once, let me make some decisions in my life!" Right after I said it I immediately regretted it. He was just trying to help.

He got up and walked out of the diner, slamming the door in the process. Why had I done! Me and him have only ever had one fight, and it was over a candy bar. This seems a little more serious than that. From the street lights I got a quick glance at his face and saw what I think was a tear. It couldn't have been. But just before I could convince myself it wasn't, he turned around and shook his head at me. With tears running down his face, one after another.

***Carson's POV***

I need to just tell her. I already know she loves me. Why can't I just mange to tell he I feel the same. I couldn't believe what she said tonight. I was just saving her ass, from yet another boy, and she still am treats me like dirt. I want to show her I'm not just a boy that sleeps around, that there's so much more than that. But how? I could stop sleeping around. But then how will I get my mind off my screwed up home, my best friend who I'm in love with, and my fail of a past.
