CHAPTER 1
Just the beginning
Buzz Buzz Buzz. I wake up to a good morning text from him. I feel the butterflies again. The same ones I got from last night, just not as crazy. I just met him and he's already lightened up my world. Yesterday replays in my mind as I text back 'Good morning:).'
*************** The day before
"Hey let's go to the park." says my step sister, Alex.
"Okay let's go then we can come back later and think about what we will do tonight." I said.
It really isn't a park though, it's an elementary school where a lot of teens and kids hang out at, from what I've seen this summer. I just met her at my family easter party for the first time since my mom started dating her father and we instantly became friends. Now my mom and me have been staying over at her dads house during the summer, and I am not very fond of it.
We walk there and there's a few guys at the basketball court playing off to the left distance. From where I stand I can see the not so large park spread across the side of the school like a fancy long rug. To right is just more grass once the two separate playgrounds end. We decide to go up to the play ground, looking like a vampire drained out all the color, and chill at one of the slides. When walk up to the playground I can see how much older it is and how much writings and carved in scratches there are everywhere. But today for some reason it looks good and the colors look bright, probably because of the bright hot sun making the temperature rise from 80° to 98°, really feeling like 102°.
We're facing each other on the slides once we finally get there, but I have the best view. I can see the guys in the distance now, some of them taking they're shirts off revealing the sweat on their bodies making them shine like Edward the vampire. We talk and laugh about how fun it was getting to go swimming today and how much hotter it feels now.
"Can we go stand in that shaded doorway? I'm pretty sure it's cooler" I said.
"Yeah it's to hot out here anyway" Alex plainly says.
We get up and head over to the doorway. Right when we get there he's walking on the path to where we are at. Alex dares me to say 'hey.'
"Hey" I say with a big smile on my face, and with that one word, that one moment, my entire life had changed.
He doesn't say anything but motions hey back with his hand, looking a but confused and dehydrated. We start walking back to where we where seated now that we cooled back down and I turn my head looking over to where he was walking and I see him talking to this kid on a bike that we earlier talked to. He walks off and the kid rides over on his bike to us. He has dark long wet hair and he looks really sweaty, almost as he just jumped in a pool and much more tired now then when we first saw him.
"Hey you know that guy you said ‘hey' to? " he says
Alex and me both give each other a look of 'I wonder.'
"Yeah? What about him?" I say.
"Well he's my cousin and he told me he thinks you're cute and told me to give you his number and text him. "
"Ohh get some." Alex says mockingly.
I give her a quick glare and pull out my phone burning hot from the sun. "Okay I will, whats the number?
He gives me his number and I text ‘Hey it's Candie from the park that just said hey' he texts back instantly ‘Hey, my name is Victor:)'
We text every second of the rest of the day learning everything about eachother, even the whole way me and Alex walk home. Once we are home, we plan to meet back at the park at night. I found out he was eighteen when I asked if he was going to sneak out like we were. I told him how old I was, thirteen, but we didn't plan anything more than meeting up and getting to know each other. We talk and learn more about each other like how he has a brother, one year older than me, his parents are divorced and he lives with his mom.
